You know Marines, one shot one kill. We fired 100, 200, and 500 yards. I don't know how kids these day can miss with all the optics. With the M-14, M-16a1 and 2 we had iron sights.

There is a little more to the story, than is usually presented today.

A little bias in this article. My concern is what religion would be taught in school and by whom. I believe that is the parent that should responsible.

Public schools are bias, just about every classroom in America had a picture of Obama, not many had a picture of Trump, that is bias at its best. Thank God my grand daughters go to school at a private Christian Academy. I can't believe that you would think teaching sexual explicit content to 3rd graders is alright. Tell me the teachers unions are not bias.

"Whether secular or religious, everyone brings moral presuppositions to the table. Religious people should not be told to check their beliefs at the door simply because they are religiously based."

Ed, your stated concern is that religion would be taught and by whom. Per my "cut and paste" above.....what gives the right to teach presuppositions of some (GLQRDRSEIEIO) and not the other? (The majority).

Actually meant the Like for this section..
Seems like a current ,workable solution for some, not all, of schools in America

Works for banks, gov't offices too

I would think that you need to be involved in your local school board as an elected official or the PTA if you have such a strong issue in what is being taught in the classroom. Teachers are given a curriculum that is mandated by the State, it is the teachers responsibility to develop a lesson plan with enabling objectives and terminal learning objectives. Using Bloom's Taxonomy of Learning to move young adults through the learning process. It is not in the best interest of the student and the educational process for a teacher to teach their agenda. With regards to unions, Nevada, as you may or may not know falls under 14B of the Taft-Hartley Act, so I was never a member.

I am a firm believer that morality and ethics are the responsibility of the parents. Our society has gotten lazy in this aspect, let it be someone else's job, I just don't have time for this! I took a Theology class in college, it was one of the hardest classes and most demanding I had ever taken. There was one question that the professor provided for the class and the whole semester, this question required a term paper to be written. I struggled with it for half a semester and finally resigned myself to the fact that there was only one answer. But here was the question: "Prove to me that God exists". The belief that God exists is faith based, there is no factual proof of his existence. The faith gives people hope that there is better life beyond the bounds of this life. As student's cognitive learning skills become concrete at about 10, they are going to ask hard questions and they may ask them about religion and frankly I can't give them a factual answer. And no two teachers are going to have the same answer.

No proof of God's existence? The whole world, every human and how our body works, animals, plants, trees, birds, the oceans and the universe and the whole order of it all. Just an example, the human eye and all our senses it's a master piece. If that isn't proof there is a God and a creator you are blind. You have to have more faith in believing that all this is an accident than it was created. A painting doesn't just create itself. Someone plans and creates it. He says that people that can't see have scales over their eyes. I got a question prove He doesn't exist?

Thank you, Bret, for saying what I was trying to figure out how to say.

God Bless You, all it takes is the faith of a child and that is all God asks of us.
