didn't do a darn ting except lower the car counts due to the bottom of the list qualifiers that could no longer run their indexes. One of the issues with the new cars is the high cost to purchase one and get it into race trim. A new guy starting out cant afford one of these new cars. everyone knows the HP numbers are way out of whack on the new cars even the owners. The qualifying sheet at Indy sure showed that.

The older cars are at least getting that benefit as well. Its called Edelbrock Aluminum Heads (NHRA legal/approved).

In my case a 29 HP penalty and the Edelbrock aluminum head is NHRA approved but NOT LEGAL AS SOLD!!!

I'm sure I will get tarred and feathered for this, but my suggestion would be to make the trigger .50-.60 under. Also I would suggest making the trigger at random races .30-.35 under in the 1/8 mile and may be use both at the same race. I think this would get everybody looked at much sooner and things in line quicker. I agree that the factory shoot out cars should be in there own category. and that the FI cars be placed in there own categories as well.

On another note..........

What would happen if a racer with a large amount of disposable income purchased a variety of FX cars and ran them balls out at a few Divisional Races?????????????

After the bloodletting the rich racer could take the decreased value as a cost of doing business and write off the loss.............

But the factory probably has a clause in the purchase agreement, which would also include an NDA, that they would only run as fast as necessary to destroy Stock Eliminator...

Just my thoughts,
Bob

Do you also write children's books?

I pulled out my stuff back in 08 when the program was released, the autos came with a junk 4 speed auto(memory was off), and the sticks the 6 speed. These were for the original 100 run of dragpaks that were delivered in 09 teams had to apply for and be granted the right to purchase and build. Some reading this might find that entertaining. Yes in the depth of the recession, guys were driving to Roush to pick up a bundle of parts and then having the process started. Based on the number of cars in competition, not that many made it to the track. 5.9L, and 6.1L In 10 there was another run,5.9L, 6.1L and 6.4L motors I think a total of 50, for the 2011 dragpaks, they did indeed come equiped with 2 speeds, were drivable like the cobra jets, and could be ordered with an optional inadequate cage, cool graphics kit, and of course that Viper motor......somewhere after that the 426 motor came along. Making the previous motors look well weak by comparison.

Based on the car count this year at Indy, why would the powers to be want to change a thing? Back in 11 before his S-2000 was done, Carey Bales got in the show in my dakota in superstock when he was #143 out of 144(#144 got DQ'd). This year there were what 190 cars in SS, and what 200 in stock?

Perhaps the $1 dollar question would be what is needed in stock to get full fields at all the other races. AHFS has to apply to all or none though especially at Indy.

Re: Should the MOPAR V10 DragPak get a 3speed?
I guess some people need to read their post before they submit it. Its kind of funny when you read a post but yet you have no clue what they race or have ever seen them at the track.

We do have a couple of 3 speeds that already fit and we have tested. Its up to NHRA to legalize it.

On not being able to make a powerglide run for us...well we did go 9.26 already with it. Its not that we cant get it to run for us, we just want what everyone else gets....a 3 speed.

I dont believe a mustang has been sold from Ford with a 3 speed yet. I know they are in the development stages of it but as far as I know none have been sold with one yet. So that is why we are asking for one.

Eric Meryfield, I copy and pasted this post from a older post. This is where Teutons were asking for the 3-speed to be legalized. This is not to be a slam on the Teutons, I new that the new drag paks guys got it legalized. After a search on the forum I found this in a very long post on this subject

Huh?? I'm lost? The the v10 drag pak was the only of the drag paks to come with power glides.

What does the above post prove?

Sorry Joe, I was trying to prove to Eric Maryfield that the drag Pak guys were the ones who got the 3-speed rule changed. If I remember correctly the V-10 was powerglide only and you guys got the 3-speed rule change to be competitive with the CJ and COPO in the factory Shootout.
