Saw it run the 7.98 at Mission BC but think the bias against non-traditional Super Stockers (ask Carey) hurts the $ number it will bring at auction. Still a cool car though.

Well, the Buick hits the block in Kissimmee tonight but I'm more interested in the Strickler "Old Reliable" Camaro which is a feature car at BJ and crosses the block in prime time tomorrow.

Re: The most valuable/desirable Stock and Super Stockers

FYI for the guys here. My Dave Strickler Z28 Camaro sold for $253,000.00 at the BJ auction. It also got a good home in the way of Rick Hendrick. Considering the so-so economy, I feel that my car did well. I had owned it for 21 years and campaigned it in NHRA Stock Eliminator for 14 seasons.

If I had the chance to talk about the car on the block, it may have gone over $300k but they were on a tight schedule with the live 2 hr Fox TV coverage so I was not able to talk about the car and all the original goodies I have that goes with the car.

R. Hendrick also bought the Prudhomme collection.

Oh, most of the NHRA known race cars sold at BJ 2014 took a shi..........on the block. Super Stock A12 Project car Road Runner, $99k, Sox and Martin Hemi Barracuda, $198k, a McDonalds Mopar that R. Jackson had, $46k.

Best way to find out what someone is willing to spend, bring your car to the auction as I did.......

Photo is not the car from the HOT ROD cover but the wagon he rolled at Muncie Dragway at the Little Go on wednesday night before Indy. I was there. It was sprinkling and they kept running the cars. The picture is the result. John removed the usuable stuff and then built the Delivery.A guy from Indy climbed the fence in the AM to check it out and several years later gave me the license plate off this car since I purchased the Sedan Delivery third handed. Still have the plate somewhere. Wish I still had the delivery but changed it to a wagon and kept going to fit the NHRA rules changes.

Cool Story, DIck... Muncie is my home track, and im good friends with Bruce& Peggy Seward. Muncie has claimed a few good cars, over the years... the most notable(in my opinion) is Ted Harbett's(spelling?) Studebaker "The Chicken Hawk"... He race it as a Stocker for years, as im sure you know... I just arrived at the track , about 45mins after it happened... He's ok , but the car was destroyed, Oil line mishap...i think it was to one of the blowers, im not sure. Hard to see that much history get destroyed, in the blink of an eye. He had the car goin in the 9's, with 2 AFBs and Stude power...

I would have to say, both "Hard Times'' Firebirds...The original Truman Fields car, and the 2nd one, owned now by Todd Hoven. They are both National event winners, and i believe Todd's car has won Stock Championships, 2 of them...THe original was a Ram Air 2 car, now restored and owned by Jim Mino. Not sure if the #2 car was a Ram Air 2 or a 330hp car...Todd could chime in on that... and I would have have to nominate my Bird, as #3 hehehe( kiddin guys :D)

Re: The most valuable/desirable Stock and Super Stockers

Many of the mentally most valuable race cars came from the era of the Car Craft Magazine about JR. STOCK. That magazine was my introduction and bible on Drag racing. Then the era became so popular Hot Rod chimed in and Super Stock magazine was in the mix also. Couldn't get enough of the fine points of Jr. Stock...current cars WAY out of line with the "good old days" of rules and rulebooks.
