Bub,
I'm pretty sure you have to be either stupid or crazy to drag race, especially on a sportsman level. And crazy sounds a lot nicer, and somewhat sexier, than stupid.

Billy always does what the voices in his head tell him to do.

Billy,
Its the Not being Stupid that gets us crossed up with NHRA. They work from the position no one will care what they change. They claim they get their ideas from "input" from the racers. Their actions are purely business and defensive positions instead of from sound technical decisions or long range planning.
I can hardly wait to see their "plan" to incorporate the new Camaro, Mustang and Chrysler into classes.

Dick, another thing that I'm notorious for saying is"Drag Racers are so stupid that it's amazing we manage to feed ourselves". What I mean by that is that we have NEVER stuck together for our own common good. Until we can get to a point where we can organize ourselves into one voice and be able to tell the powers that be "We,re ALL staying home from X race" and MEAN it and DO it we will be taken advantage of . That being said I can guarantee you that if we DID do that, X number of racers would say "heck, I'm gonna go to that race because nobody's gonna be there. What does this have to do with "runner volumes" sorry

In a round about way Dick may have hit on the answer. What if it is not the tech dept that is making the final decisions on issues? Think about it.

Too many times tech guys have been over ridden on illegal things they find in teardown. Other times there have been tech decisions handed down that throw logic out the window. The racers commission is a prime example of racer ideas being voted on and the total opposite happens.
