Re: Monday Morning Horsepower?
This isn't about nice young guys, nice family, great history, I'm with all of that and wish them all the happiness they are great people----- but if a win and a 1.20+ run doesnt get a teardown then why are we going to the trouble to be class racers ??? Its about CREDABILITY to class racing and class racers.......how does anyone get checked from here on out ???

Re: Monday Morning Horsepower?
If I'm reading this correctly, the demand is that there be a teardown after someone runs 1.20 or under hitting all-like combos
Since it has to be administered across the board, this is certainly feasible Friday, Saturday.....but a run on Sunday means that the racer (who may need to tow all night to get to work),will be late getting out on the road (who cares?) BUT MORE to the point, one or 2 tech officials need to stay (good luck on that) and that the track personnel would have to have some presence before securing facility. Don't see those two things happening.....I've seen tech exit before the end of a race: travel, pay, motel etc Seal and tech next race? Nope Just sayin' |

Randall, in the "old" days. Here in Div.4, they would seal your motor on Sunday after the race, then tear it down when you arrived at the next race. Winner and runner-up. I remember some DQ's from this procedure.

Re: Monday Morning Horsepower?
Sammy, the slow guys/bracket contingent want you to lay down and lose, rather than them work as hard as you did to get fast.

Re: Monday Morning Horsepower?
Sammy, that was 27 years ago. Last century. In the distant past. I think even Bruce would agree, things are different now. And I got my old 8th grade English teacher to instruct you in grammar, spelling, capitalization, and issue a graduation certificate to move on to high school. I think Charlie Bob is in the spelling class also. It has been this way since AHFS was created or spawned with bad seed. Now there is an uproar. I got hit several times on that issue, and never a tear down. Maybe I am used to it. Maybe I like it. It's just shocking how soft the indexes are for these cars.

Re: Monday Morning Horsepower?
I know it is too late, but what do you think about only getting 1 round of qualifying in. This probably contributed to the 85 under rule not being met. Also I do not believe you could not say Sunday was not mineshaft conditions. I mean pro stock all running over 214mph and prostock bike almost 200 mph.
And I do have a dog in the fight as my combo got hit hard. Hard to believe the LT1 has more hp than the LS1. I am just glad that IHRA uses a little more common sense. Mark Lewis |
