Ken,

You and Bill are in a muddy, swimming pool down by the tree line. Good luck this weekend.

We missed Pomona, and Pheonix, and Gainesville, Im actually glad at this point. ( not the reasons we missed them ) Maybe its bad luck yall, see if Im not there it rains , ever think of that ? Lol...

But seriosly we were going to shoot for Charlotte, but now its Houston and Vegas (Me and the Old man need a Vegas Vacation)

What are the changes its gonna rain in Vegas ?:D:D:D

Im really disapointed for everyone in Gainesville, I really want to hear about a couple of runs.

Good luck to everyone who has "stuck it out"

Looking at the photos provided by Ken of the pit conditions.
How is it that this happens at a national meet?
I know that weather can't be controlled but I am sure the Gainesville Ownership has seen heavy rain before and should have taken proper preventative measures to insure at least acceptable pits.
There should be some kind of fine NHRA can impose on these people.
Nhra should have a minimum standard tracks should have to adhere to to prevent this from happening in the future.
I know money is tight in this economy but come on show a little effort here!

NHRA owns Gainesville.......It is typical Florida land......water has nowhere to go in the ground, usually. They need the sun to come out and dry up the puddles......

I have been there in similar condtions and we sat for 2 days......

The Weather went form beautiful sunny and warm conditions to heavy rain and then cold and high winds......Was not pleasant that year.....I think we stayed over into Monday.....

7:58 AM, what a great day for the pro's. The sun is out, clear blue skies. Its a little chilly, 54 but going up to 70.

For us sportsman, well the picture of my pit tells it all. I think by the end of the day it may be okay to take the car out, but I do not see us running today.

As of this morning there have been no changes in the schedule.

My positive attitude has being put to the test here in Gainesville. I'm doing my best like many others to stay upbeat. I'm one of the lucky ones, I can pit off the back of my trailer with no mud. I can not image what the others are going through where they can't even open there rear door.

If there are changes, I will update asap.

I was wandering why they dont try to run at least one qualifying run after the pro show today????? its not like they will be racing very late to begin with, and the weather should be good for today and Sunday..... would be nice to see them attempt to get the sportsman in durring the regular program and not wait till Monday to even give them a shot down the track.

I understand NHRA feels the show is what everyone comes to see, but they still need to realize that for now they still need the sportsman racers support..... they have not found a way to run an entire pro show and pay the bills without us YET....but NHRA continually treats the sportsman racers like redheaded step children.....

NHRA knows the condition of the facility and yet refuses to do anything about it because they ony need it twice a year, and the repairs that NEED to be done do not affect the pros so they wont do it.

Ken: keep your positive attitude.... I really wish I was stuck there in that mudhole with everyone else....

If yall leave now, you can travel in the sun on hard surfaces to South Louisiana and go to No Problem where the weather is looking great. A 30% on Wed, nothing but sun till then, then more sun after. Great seafood for a few days, maybe a little advance mudbug, a couple cold ones while on a swamp tour. I am really trying to decide if I should turn the pool heater on and swim, or just sit around and sample stuff. Come visit while waiting. Southland Speed and Performance can do any work you might need. Need Dyno? Need Beer? Need Sunshine? We got it!!!

Why don't they run sportsman later into the evening? Gainesville has decent lighting. I mean they run their regular weekly races at night. Even NASCAR will turn the lights on to get the program done.
