On Saturday, July 11th, The Ravelers performed for the racers who chose to stay at the conclusion of racing. From the comments that we received everyone who attended had a great time. They even sang a very special happy birthday to racers in attendance. Thanks to Doug Gordon and family for purchasing the band’s dinner. To recap they are a 4 person Southern California classical rock band performing 60 and 70 rock and roll. Members: Hai Muradian-vocals, sax, flute, guitar Pat Naish-vocals, guitar Martie Echito-vocals, keyboards, key bass Rob Haerr-drums.

On a “it’s a small world” note, the lead band signer, Hai Muradian’s Goddaughter, Michaelyn Roelle, was competing in both Meziere Electronics and Super Comp! SCEDA- It’s an event, not just a drag race.

In SCEDA DNB Engineering Stock/Super Stock Combo, it was Bill O’Conner of Huntington Beach in the “Slow Roller” Plymouth Horizon taking the $500 win over points leader Jim Meador. O’Conner left the line first and held on at the stripe to hold off the hard-charging Meador who broke out with a 10.743 on his 10.76 dial trying to catch O’Conner’s 16.96 dial. The semis saw O’Conner having a solo run and Meador defeating number 2 in points Ken Etter. Meador put together a .023 package with an .018 light and 10.775 on his 10.77 dial to leave Etter no room to get around him. Honorable mention goes out to winner Bill O’Conner for having a .006 in the first round on a solo pass.
