The New Generation – Michelle Bongiovanni

11337535-standardWhen Michelle Bongiovanni was 8 years her dad Anthony who competes regular in Stock and Super Stock took Michelle to the local drag strip in Englishtown, NJ, she said “this is cool, I really want to do that.”  Michelle new then that drag racing was in her future. The idea of a girl racing with guys was cool to her along with being totally different from anything the average kid does. In 2007 at the age of 9, Michelle was behind the wheel of a junior dragtser. Now 17, Michelle is a veteran in the junior drag racing ranks. A well accomplished racer, Michelle is looking to move forward and joining the sportsman ranks. Being competitive and going fast is what Michelle enjoys, and drag racing fulfills that need.

Englishtown June 12 2011 017With the stable of Cobra Jets in her dads arsenal, it wont be long before Michelle moves on to the next level. To say Anthony is happy to have Michelle interested in his hobby and now hers would be an understatement at best. Spending quality time with your children is what every parent enjoys and hopes for, but doing it in the sport you love is a gift. Seeing the passion that this family has, drag racing looks to be a live and well for the new generation.

As Michelle looks forward to driving faster cars and competing in the sportsman classes she had a chance to do a little testing in a 2015 Mustang GT. Ford contacted her to test the track apps that are available on Mustangs. Click on the link below to see Michelle in action. Most of the video was taken from a helicopter, including the opening shot.

Michelle

I see a bright future in drag racing for this young lady, and if this is any indication of the future of drag racing for young people, the future looks good.
