A questiion about lighting on the Tree
I have a question that i need answered a track now has a black background behind the three yellow lights on the christmas tree and is it me at my age lol or is it very hard to actually see the bulbs at night before they come on? I thought that some tracks now have a spotlight on the tree itself so racers can see the bulbs especially at night just curious on any thoughts or do i simply have too many birthdays ??

I preferred to see the tree evenly lit for night racing so as to be able to see the third bulb before it came on. I happened to know the manager at that time I asked if a floodlight could be installed in front of the tree. Sure enough, he was able to do it. Only fair that the tree would look the same for both lanes. Maybe the background was added for sun blockage in the afternoon? If that's the case...good luck with your situation ;-)

Re: A questiion about lighting on the Tree
Ive had similar issues on cloudy days and night racing picking up the 3rd bulb before it's lit, also at Acton Mt right lane a couple years ago the sun was hitting the tree just right and I couldn't see the tree come down, I moved to the left lane, changed sunglasses, obviously me getting older doesn't help...

Re: A questiion about lighting on the Tree
I've noticed several tracks have more light on one side then the other. If they don't light up the tree then it's like looking at a back dark spot, when trying to find the bulbs. I would suggest having your headlight functional, if not already. What I did was leave them on high beam and angle them up and out slightly so that they would hit the tree. It's not as good as a spotlight but it will help knock off he glare. Even if you don't have headlight you can install some driving, spot lights that will look good and function. Hope this helps.
