Are the classes the same, HP and weight etc...? Use my # or need a new?? Join IHRA to race?? Do they use the same indexes and atitude adjustments?? Tucson is about 3000 feet altitude.

1) Yes, they have Stock.
2A-B-C) The classes are mostly the same. With a few exceptions. Crate Motor Stock, Stock GT, Pure Stock. They also have all 16 FWD Classes and the Truck Classes. Also there are EFI classes. Your car, as a P/SA, would be an I/FIA. Some HP factors will differ between NHRA/IHRA. Weight breaks are mostly the same. http://classracer.com/classes.html are all the weight breaks for both HRA's.
IHRA tech contact info can be found at http://www.ihra.com/competition/index.php
3) Yes, you will need an IHRA number. Often you can get the same # as NHRA. IHRA does not have a Division 6 or 7 as NHRA does, but I believe you can use your 6-7 number. Check a contact listed in the answer to previous question
4) Yes, you will have to join IHRA.
5) IHRA does factor one or two tracks that are at elevation. Not sure what/if Tuscon's factor will be. The Indexes, at sea level, are the same as NHRA's were prior to 2010. IHRA, P/SA and I/FIA are both 13.75 (sea level).

Hope this helps.

This race is a NitroJam event says nothing about IHRA. I would look for bracket race instead.

From the DRO/agent1320 website

IHRA forms Division 6 on the west coast! Tucson not going IHRA

To accompany its expansion westward, the International Hot Rod Association has formed a new division in the Summit SuperSeries made up of tracks in western Canada and the northwest portion of the United States.

Beginning in 2011, 10 tracks in three Canadian provinces and four U.S. states will begin competition in Division 6 with the Summit SuperSeries grassroots racing series. Each track will be eligible to compete in the Summit Team Finals that will be held next season at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta. The earlier 1320 note saying the SIR in Tucson would be also switching to an IHRA sanction was wrong according to newly named track manager Bernie Longjohn.

“After meeting with these tracks and figuring out what was most important for them, we quickly realized that our sportsman programs really lined up with the goals of these tracks,” said Skooter Peaco, IHRA VP of Race Operations. “Focusing on sportsman racing and the opportunity the Summit SuperSeries and Summit Team Finals brings to this region is unprecedented.”

The newly formed division will consist of Castrol Raceway and Race City Motorsports Park in Alberta, Gimli Motorsports Park in Manitoba, Thunder Mountain, Prince George Motorsports Park and Nl’akapxm Eagle Motorplex in British Columbia and Rocky Mountain Raceways (West Valley City, UT), Alaska Raceway Park (Palmer, AK), Magic City International Dragway (Minot, ND) and Philips County Motorsports Dragstrip (Holyoke, CO) in the United States.

“Forming this new division has been in the making for two years and it is great to finally see it come to life,” said Phil Gingerich, IHRA Director of Track Development. “This will provide the west coast exposure to the benefits of IHRA racing and could result in more new tracks joining in the future.”

IHRA officials also haven’t ruled out the possibility of expanding the division to include the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am series in the future. [11/29/10]

1) Chip has to be right. I can't see any way that NHRA would allow anything to do with IHRA at an NHRA track, which would mean no IHRA classes, Tournament of Champions qualifying, etc. I'm sure they can get away with handling a booked-in Nitro show under Feld's name to go along with their regular bracket program... but we saw what NHRA did with San Antonio when they tried to have a show that was associated with the AHRA Reunion.

2) The Summit Super Series is IHRA's E.T. series. They're talking about 1 race a year that guys would travel to the Summit Team Finals (aka Bracket Finals)
