STR 12 Cross ram info
Does anyone have or know where I can find indepth information on an STR 12 cross ram for a 340 mopar? I have an unused Edelbrock STR 12 but can't seem to locate any constructive info. on carbs used, problems etc. I've read about the ones used on the Z-28, but this group at Class Racer seems to have tried everything.

Re: STR 12 Cross ram info
There was a magazine article (forgot which one) back in the early '70's that did, I believe, a 2 part build/test on a 340 4-speed Demon. They would add a part, & run it at a track. The STR 12 was part of the test and may have included 2 different carbs. Possibly jetting. I have the magazine, but it's been a while since I've read it and don't know where it is.
Maybe someone remembers the magazine, article and has a source for it. Google "Edelbrock STR 12". Many discussions, but don't know if there is any hard core testing on them.

Re: STR 12 Cross ram info
Thank you, Ive googled till I'm googled out. Mostly opinions on STR 12, I'll keep looking. The article on the Z-28 was very informative about cams, rear gears etc. The author did state that he put a spacer between the plates but that the thickness of said plate was top secret. lol

Re: STR 12 Cross ram info
If you have access to the old Chrysler Tune Up Tips and books of the day I think there is some information there.
I know there is a brief mention in one of Larry Shepard's books about them that show where some dams need to be installed to help with fuel distribution. Good Luck, Bill |

Re: STR 12 Cross ram info
I seem to remember Hot Rod magazine doing an article on a 340 Duster. John Dianna took it and eventually ran it in Modified Production. Probably did the first article in 1970.

Re: STR 12 Cross ram info
As I recall, they tested the STR on the test car before Dianna made a race car out of it. You would have to find the first article. It may have been the June 1970 Hot Rod magazine?
