Re: Loss another Class Racer
This is very hard for me to write. Carl Weisinger passed suddenly Wednesday morning while at a doctor appointment. Carl was truly a pioneer of our sport and I know personally I will miss all our talks and his quick wit I had the pleasure of knowing for over 50 years. Carl Weisinger was a man among men as a human, a businessman, a family man and a racer. Carl leaves behind his loving wife Diane, his son Randy and his puppies he loved so much. RIP Carl, see you in the next life. Jim

Re: Loss another Class Racer
I wish I knew Carl. I definitely remember his 1969 Camaro SS car. On the back it said, "I'm a Chevy in a Hemi class". Maybe he was in SS/A? He is in "heaven class" now. Condolences to his family. Ray

Re: Loss another Class Racer
Probably about a year ago I got a phone call out of the blue from Carl. He was having his friend/racers sign the wall in his shop and he asked me to stop by and sign it next time I was close by. I felt very honored but sadly it didn't happen in time..... Race in Peace Carl. You will be missed.

R.I.P. Carl.
I never had the chance to meet Carl, but sounds like a well respected and loved. man. The kind of person we should all be more like.

Re: Loss another Class Racer
I'll never forget what he would say when he would call, "C. Edward Weisinger the second here". Did he do this with any of you guys also?
How about sharing some of your "Carl" stories with everyone to remember him by. There must be a million of them. I'll start: 1991 Gators: Pulled in and parked in the pits and my son, Shane, who was 7 years old at the time, looked over and saw Carl's rig parked on the next row. He shouted "Hey!, there's Carl!" and jumped out of the truck and raced over to Carl's trailer where he and Carl spent most of the the day visiting and talking about life, dogs and racing. When I went over to get Shane so we could go to the hotel he said "but I wanna stay with Carl!" Carl looked at him and said "Shane, I'm your buddy but he's your dad. Go!" On the way to the hotel Shane looked over at me and said "Carl's a really nice man isn't he." I nodded at him with a smile and said "Yes he is, yes he is". Jim .

Re: Loss another Class Racer
Truly one person I enjoyed talking with and loved his stories of class racing from the past. Carl told me a certain story about running George Vignonia in the SS/BA class final. The story seemed so far fetched, except Georgie told me the same exact story on a different occasion and repeated the story of Carl beating him in the final to the last detail!
Loved his stories and loved Orlando when he ran it. Carl was a true Class racer and him and George can battle for class trophy again, Big Hemi vs BBC in the dragway upstairs. Class act. Rest in peace Carl |
