Default one of those questionable decisions

I know that most aren't affected by this and I don't know why it took me so long to look this up but........................
Do you know what FWD class had the most participants in it in 2021 according to Nitro Joe's? It was CF/S, the 17.5 lb. class with 6 (yes, only 6 but still the most).
Do you know what FWD class NHRA decided to do away with to create a 22 lb. class? Why the 17.5 lb. class, of course! Now why couldn't they have just added the 22 lb. class?
Any logical answers?

The last couple of years E has had 5 each year. Assuming the same this year + a certain primered 96 Escort down south hit a divisional, & I was thinking of hitting the open in Bremerton with my Escort. Is E next on the chopping block?
