Coming up this weekend is the final 2 races of our 2023 CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association season which also means "Championship Weekend"! We will be making our 3rd trip of the year to Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway & the weather is looking good. Gates will open on Friday from 3 p.m.-8 p.m. for parking.

Saturday, November 18th: Gates open at 10 a.m. with time trails beginning at 11 a.m. The classes competing on Saturday is Carolina Classic Modified Production, CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association, TOP, & MOD. Our Friendsgiving is also on Saturday. We will play it by ear as to what time to plan to eat based on how racing action is going. Doyle Evans Realty, owned & operated by our own Mr. Doyle Evans is the Saturday title race sponsor. If you are needing any help in the real estate market, be sure to get in touch with him. Brister Racing; another one of our racers Mr. Al Brister, is the Saturday associate sponsor. If y'all remember from Darlington Dragway, I mentioned that his wife Mrs. Teresa had had some medical issues. We hope & pray that both of them are able to be in attendance this weekend as drag racing is the best medicine needed right now for Mr. Teresa.

Sunday, November 19th: Gates open at 10 a.m., church service is at 11 a.m., & new entries for brackets/@ CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association Dash for Cash at 12 noon. The Sunday title event sponsor is H&f performance, Doug & Katie Hobgood. This should be there first race following their retirement so we definitely look forward to having them with us. The associate sponsor for Sunday is B & D Automotive. I apologize for not having a logo for them to upload. This business is owned by Danny Perry & is an automotive repair shop in Sims, NC.
As always, please review the list of CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association sponsors when you are in need of services as this businesses need us just as much as the CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association needs them!

We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend at Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway.

Shewww 😴😴😴, it's been one heck of a season but it all came to an end this past weekend at Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway. Mother Nature hasn't been our best friend this year but this past weekend, she gave us perfect racing weather & we took advantage of it.

We started out the morning on Saturday with our normal time run & then into our Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash. Dan Fletcher was the first one to cash in on sponsor bonuses for his 6.150 on his 6.15 dial. He collected himself a crisp $100.00 bill. There were a total of 8 dead on runs & he obviously came out on top. We had 45 cars make the first round call. This was a phenomenal turnout for our last race of the year so THANK YOU racers for your support!!! After 1st round was complete, we made another visit to The Fletcher pit area but this time it was for Timbo. He was awarded the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package & also received an additional $200.00 from Mr. Barry Parker for this loss. Yes, he did receive $250.00 for his 1st round loss 😉. Unfortunately Timbo thought he was putting up a decent run when he was .030 on the tree & ran a 7.058 at 84.93 mph on his 7.02 dial but he stood no chance to his opponent's .007 package. Scott Tilley had some electrical issues plaque him in 2nd round which resulted in his loss but he didn't walk away empty handed. He received a 5 gallon pail of Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants/ Ford's Fuel and Propane PRO 112+. Scott was dialed a 7.19, had a .118 RT & ran a 7.196 at 93.52 mph. Our lone semi-finalist went to "The Whomp Master" Brent Pozzi. Brent met up with Hillarey Marshall in the staging lanes & there were a few mind games played where Brent fell victim to Hillarey during their run. Brent is in search for "someone" to help check his air pressure while Scott Marshall is looking for his hair brush. In the finals, we have a repeat match-up on our September 9th race, also at Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway, which ended with the same results as that race. Hillarey lined up against Mr. Phil Hilling. The race was over at the hit as Phil went .030 red & ran a 6.157 at 107.71 mph on his 6.19 dial. Hillarey had a .063 RT, ran a 7.160 on her 6.23 dial as she saw Phil's red light. HIllarey received her 2nd CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association Eagle trophy for the 2023 season as well as a trailer check sponsored by Mj Custom Printing & Graphics, a $300.00 gift certificate to QA1, & a $100.00 gift certificate to ATI Performance Products. Phil received a smaller Mj Custom Printing & Graphics trailer check, $100.00 gift certificate from Altronics Inc, $50.00 gift certificate from Meziere Enterprises, $50.00 gift certificate from ATI Performance Products as well as the "passed down 2nd Place Ain't ****" bowling trophy. You had to be there to understand but I think we've started a new tradition. Points leader Kevin Locklear received the Auto Plus Service Center Paul Bunyan (Best RT) Award for his .000 RT in round 3 of eliminations as well as the Wayside Landscapes & Supply Bounty Hunter Award to taking out Sunday's Darlington Dragway winner, Curt Smith Jr during round #2. Randy Chew & Ed McLawhorn each received a Hard Luck Award courtesy of McLawhorn Racing as both were unable to make first round call due to parts breakage. Korey Alexander received the Butner Construction Sportsmanship Award for his help changing torque converters on Homer Carty's Chevy II. The Zamp Racing Best Winning Package of the race came from Round 1 where Dell Britt was .007 on the tree & ran dead 0 on his 6.93 dial. Billy Plage received the Gutters by Design MInd in the Gutter/Worst RT for his .233 RT during round 1. We also had our Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving meal on Saturday following Dash for Cash & all I can say is WOW. The amount of food that was there for the taking was unbelievable. Hope everything enjoyed it & left with their bellies full.

Sunday Race Results:

We started out the day with the "Spirit of Karen Hardee Warren" Award presentation. This is the 2nd year of Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway & CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association doing this award & it will continue to be awarded at each November race. This year's recipient was Mr. Avery McLawhorn. If you are apart of the CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association, there is no explanation needed as to why Avery was chosen for this award. THANK YOU Brother for all of you for us!!! Next up was the Warren Engines Dash for Cash. Dennis Pope put that blue Camaro on the bumper at the hit with his .072 RT & ran a 6.953 at 94.1 mph on his 6.95 dial to receive $100.00 & eligibility for the 1st Round Bye Run. A random tech card was drawn from both races for the Half Moon Marketplace "Act of Giving Back" award & Ronnie Yopp Jr. was the winner of the Visa gift card. We had 2 cars suffer parts failure & was unable to make the first round call so we had 37 cars compete in 1st round. Joe Huestis, first time racing with us on a Sunday in a while, found himself on the losing end of his run during round #1. He received the Victory Lane Golf Carts Best Losing Package award. Mr. Joe had a .085 RT, ran 8.771 at 73.88 mph on his 8.77 dial. The Ford's Fuel and Propane/ Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants 2nd Round Best Losing Package went to Curtis Smith Racing (Sr) for his tough 2nd round loss. Curtis was .012 on the tree & ran a 7.164 at 92.75 mph on his 7.11 dial. He got a 5 gallon pail of PRO 112+ racing fuel. Lee Truell was our lone semi-finalist for today's race. He staged up against Al Brister but this one was over at the start when Lee lit the red bulb by .054. He went on to run a 6.023 at 113.05 mph on his 5.99 dial. In the finals, we had Raymond Roland & Al Brister. Raymond took the starting line advantage, .018 to Al' .032, & carried it on to victory. Raymond was dialed a 6.59 & ran 6.598 at 100.86 mph. Al was dialed 6.61 & ran a 6.605 at 96.95 mph. Raymond added yet another Eagle trophy to his collection or Dennis Pope calls them, "screaming eagle". He also received a large trailer check courtesy of MJ Printing & Graphics, a $100.00 gift certificate to ATI Performance Products, & a $300.00 gift certificate to QA1. Al, with an emotional wife Teresa, by his side received a smaller trailer check courtesy of MJ Printing & Graphics, a $100.00 gift certificate from Altronics Inc, a $50.00 gift certificate from ATI Performance Products, & a $50.00 gift certificate from Meziere Enterprises. All of CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association racers & crew were excited to have Al & Teresa back with us for the 1st time since Mrs. Teresa had her medical scare back a few months ago. We all love you Mrs. Teresa!!!! Raymond Roland kept collecting envelopes from his round 2 win as he received the Auto Plus Service Center Paul Bunyan award for his .001 RT, the Wayside Landscapes & Supply Bounty Hunter award for taking out Saturday's race winner HIllarey Sloan, & the Crew Chief Pro Software Best Winning Package for his .008 package (.001 RT 6.627at 99.76 mph on his 6.62 dial). Cooter Williamson & Korey Alexander both received the McLawhorn Racing Hard Luck Award. Cooter lost oil pressure on his engine during eliminations on Saturday evening & Korey lost a transmission during today's Dash for Cash. Ed McLawhorn received the Gutters by Design/Worst RT award for his .450 RT, transbrake stuck, during round 3 of eliminations. Homer Carty received the Butner Construction Sportsmanship award. Homer put Korey Alexander in his Chevy II for round 1 eliminations & he filled the seat of the Gary Peterson Camaro since Korey's crew was unable to get his transmission repaired in time for R1. Then those 2 got paired up in Round #2 here Korey then broke Homer's ride & tried his hardest to back over me (Tabitha) on the line.

CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association racing is in the books for yet another year. We continue to grow each year & hope racers are already planning to race with us in 2024. The final points spreadsheet will be posted a little later & also be on the watch for the banquet info for some time in January. The schedule will also be released very soon. I am in search for both returning & new sponsors for next year so if you know of a business interested in any amount of sponsorship, please have them to reach out to me!

THANK YOU ALL FOR A SUCCESSFUL 2023 RACING SEASON!! Much love to all of y'all!!!!
