Default Field gets STONE-walled during last Sunday’s TNT 10.90 Super Series event at TMP!

CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 24, 2008) It just goes to show that you shouldn’t always listen to the weather forecast. They were calling for 40% chance of rain last Sunday morning for the Joe’s Transmission TNT 10.90 Super Series race…presented by KC Auto Parts. But that didn’t stop TNT racers from heading to Toronto Motorsports Park (TMP) for the 3rd event in the 9 race 2008 schedule. Air was excellent - tailwind was strong - and not a drop of rain all day. J.J. Jablonski found himself atop the leader board after 2 qualifying sessions with a stout 10.907 at 131mph – entitling him to the $50 Hoosier Tire Canada certificate.

But it was last year’s TMP event winner, Jamie Stoneman from Cheektowaga NY, who was the man to beat. In his 1993 Chevy S10, Jamie worked his way through the field. Round 1 saw Charlie Speck red light by a mere .005 to him. He ran a dead-on 10.906 for the win against Wayne Sipos in round 2. And then came out on the good end of a double breakout with J.J. Jablonski in round 3 - running a 10.889.

The final round had him paired with Bill Elekes from West Seneca NY. Bill’s 1975 Monza had just run 10.893 on a bye run. Both cars left the line clean with a slight .006 advantage to the Monza. But at the stripe, it was Jamie’s 10.917 for the win to Bill’s 10.899 breakout (OUCH)! These performances catapulted both Jamie and Bill up the standings to 2nd and 3rd place in the 2008 TNT Series points chase.

“I want to thank my dad for everything he does for me,” commented Jamie in the winner’s circle. “And my ‘junior pit crew’ – my son Clayton (I guess I owe him that bike!) and my nephews Austin & Mason. I also need to thank Jeff Gregoire, Dave Putman, Moe & Joe Passero, Jason Vitez, Tom Coonly and Carl Ettipio (thanks for the valve covers!)” added Jamie. Sponsors behind the 93 S10 include Rosehill Discount Centre, Buffalo Clearance & Supply, Sobey’s of Fort Erie and Gorman Enterprises.

The next TNT Super Series Hot Rod race is Saturday July 5th at St Thomas Dragway and will be run on the 1/8th mile (7.00 index). “We’ll be there in conjunction with the Benson Auto Parts Show Me The Money Tour which is paying $10,000 to win in Super Pro on BOTH DAYS!” said Ted Barnes, TNT Series Director. “Time trials for the bracket classes start at 8am on Saturday. We expect qualifying for TNT Hot Rod to be around 3pm Saturday with eliminations to follow.”

Every TNT event including July 5th guarantees a minimum of $500 to win, rewards #1 qualifier with a $50 Hoosier Canada certificate, pays $25 round money for EVERY round win, posts contingency money for both winner & runner-up and counts for points towards lucrative TNT yearend awards.

Also just announced – A ninth event in the 2008 TNT Super Series schedule. Wednesday July 16th the TNT Series will join the Pro Modified Racing Association’s event at Toronto Motorsports Park. Further details on this event will be released shortly.

Here are the current points standings after 2 of 9 races:
