Do holley carbs with side hung floats need jet extensions in the rear? If so is a notched float needed as with center hung floats. This would be on a single carb installation.

If the carb I mounted primary bowl in front and secondary rear it won’t hurt. At one time Holley made jet ext that fit inside the jet they were about 1 inch long. They were made originally for the GT-40s at LeMans when Ford ran the 427 with a single 4V. Those were with what they called the LeMans float bowls. If you check at one time Holley made the nitro black floats for the side hung bowls I think the oe floats were brass. You can not notch those floats.

If it leaves hard enough to uncover the jets, then yes, it's needed. And, yes, Quick Fuel sells a notched, thinned, float just like that. I always keep one in stock.
