No, the trim package (hood, spoilers, etc....) must match the engine HP combination claimed.

For example, a 1969 Camaro was available with a cowl type hood only with some engine combinations. If you run a 350 cid, 2 bbl. engine in a 1969 Camaro, you can't run the cowl induction hood.

It's like Greenlight said. You can't run the 6pack hood with the 383. I currently run the only 383 1969 Roadrunner in NHRA Stock Eliminator in the country. Tough combination. Good luck and have fun. Derek

Simple, it doesn`t . A Cuda running as an AAR can only run the 340 with 3 2 barrel cars. I have seen a few CHALLANGERS with not 340 6 Packs using the fiberglass T/A hood, apparently NHRA was convinced the T/A hood was available on non T/A Challangers. I can`t say that I have ever seen a AAR Cuda hood on a non AAR combination.
Not sure what type of differances there are between 69 & 1970 383 MoPar engines, but Will Kellys 70 383 Cuda runs pretty well in Div. 6.

Larry Hills Cuda A/SA runs the AAR hood. NHRA allowed that back in the day and even gave the Cuda a best engineered or appearing award. The TA hood has been allowed on Challengers since the days of Paul Rossi SS/FA 440 6 pack. The story was the factory had a shortage of shakers and put the TA hood on some of them.

The T/A scooped hood was an available option on the '70 Challenger. Option code N94. It was available on the 340, 383, 440, and 426 Hemi. The Shaker shortage story arrived from the temporary period where the Shaker production was halted because of the lack of crumple zones in the hood. Crash tests showed the hood would come off and go through the windshield. The known N94 optioned car production dates are nowhere near the Shaker non-production period.

Here's a link to a factory option book showing the T/A Hood availability on other engines: http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/...1970/page3.jpg

I am glad that NHRA accepts both these hoods but your brochure also states shaker available for 440 4bbl and would be painted black on all but red cars. Obviously some erroneous information.
Ok I have done some more research and have seen fender tag pics of non Ta Challengers with N94 hoods.

That hood may have been "available" but NEVER built that way. Kinda like a 340 6 pack was "available" in 1971 BUT NEVER EVER Built! Larry's hood is a bogus deal. So is the fiberglass hood on anything BUT a 340 6pack. AND the reason for the shaker replacement wasnt "crumplezones" It was because they filled up with water when it rained. Dealers swapped them off under warranty! NEVER did Mother mopar put the fiberglass on anything else. Its like saying a Mr Norms 340 6pack in a dart is legal! I think since all the camaros gotta run flat hoods Larry and the others should have Steel on theirs! But Hey Put the Lift off on your car and cite Larry as the example! They gotta let you have it, Right????

I don't know how this thread got from a 1969 Roadrunner hood to a 1970 Cuda hood, but the answer to the original question is....no, you can not use a 6bbl hood on a 383 car. You could use the scoop hood in Super stock GT with the 383. BTW, my 69 Roadrunner was an original 383, I bought it new when I got out of the Army and still have it.
