Re: Original hemi dart information
Banning and Slaughter was a Barracuda. I never heard of the Dart being called that. On the door it said "Owner Geo. T. Slaughter."

Re: Original hemi dart information
My bad. Posts corrected. Old age brain fade. We are talking about the Dart you said you owned at one time. Trying to find where it originated from and if it was either the red and white Dart or maybe the Gator Raider. If not, what was its origin and where did it go? If the current owner wants to remain anonymous that is fine. Just trying to identify the history of the car.

Re: Original hemi dart information
My old age brain fade error Daryl. The Dart was not the Barracuda. But.... If anyone is chasing that contact info on the BO29 site that could be a VERY useful contact.

Re: Original hemi dart information
Maybe some of the old / Carlisle / Lakeland/ Southland Raceway folks can contribute something to this. Has to be at least one of the "lost" cars in this mix.

Re: Original hemi dart information
Hello all,
Just wanted to update anybody interested in the Jim Keyes LO23 hemi Dart, that I just bought from him. I am the third owner. Jim has had it since 1973, and raced it until he turned his attention to a BO29 barracuda that he still owns and races. I will attach some photos of it in its current state. I am going to pull the Super Stock hemi and keep it on an engine stand in my garage as a decoration, and I am having Tim Banning/ForHemisOnly build me a nice hemi to run in the car for now. I plan to do a partial restoration (I want to keep the cage, wheel tubs, interior the same), because I really want to preserve some of the patina and character that comes with a rare race car that was actually raced for years. I am going to paint it a stock white color (couldn't get the primer/black fenders and hood paint scheme past the wife), and make an occasional exhibition pass at the local dragstrip once or twice a year, just for the thrill of running a piece of history down the dragstrip. Anyway, this forum and this thread have been terrific; I have really enjoyed reading through the pages and absorbing all of the history and photos, etc. Thank you all for your contributions. Thank you to Jim Keyes for parting with one of his "babies". I know it must have been hard, but I will take good care of her. Clint Brunner Sioux Falls, SD |
