Default NHRA Grading Point System

Do you have to make it to first round for an event to qualify as a Grading point? I entered the National open at Tri-state, passed tech, and during qualifying, I broke. So I never made it to first round. The NHRA website is as easy to read as Latin. Anyone got an ideas?

You should get one for just passing tech.

Ok. Thank you. That's kinda what I thought from reading the NHRA website, but as I said, it wasn't very clear at all.

A Grade Point is earned by turning in a Tech Card.

It may be that way now.

March 2003, I went to Delmar DE for an NHRA Div 1 Nat'l Open. We ran all day Saturday. Sunday totally washed out. There was scheduled to be one time trial that morning, then eliminations. It was re-scheduled for June, and I could not make the four hundred mile return trip. I never received credit for a grade point. Since "tech was still open, you had to return to get your grade point". It was like I was never there (the tolls, gas, entry and motel expenses sure said I was).

November 2004, we went to Montgomery AL for an NHRA Div 2 Open. It rained all weekend and not ONE CAR went down the track in two days. It was announced that "anyone who goes through tech will receive a grade point". Which I did. The reschedule date a few weeks later I did not attend. The Div 1 Open at Maple Grove last fall, same thing (I did not attend). Not one car ran, all racers received a grade point. The race was never made up.

So, unless things have changed, if a race never starts = grade point. If it rains out and rescheduled but tech is still open = no grade point (if you do not return for the make-up date).
