Re: November 20th & 21st Coastal Plains Race #9 & #10
Our final race weekend for 2021 is here which means we will also be determining our championship for this season. Coming up this Saturday & Sunday at Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway. There will be testing on Friday night (weather permitting) & early parking. Gates open at 10 a.m. both Saturday & Sunday. Time runs begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday & Sunday we will only have our Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash. There will be a church service on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Racers will pay at the gate but you will still need to check in at Tabitha Moore Draughon's trailer.
Doyle Evans Realty is our title sponsor for Saturday's race with Camaro Barn being the associate sponsor for both Saturday & Sunday's race. Doyle Evans Realty out of Jacksonville, NC, is owned & operated by one of our CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association racers, Mr. Doyle Evans. Pope Automotive of Kinston, NC, owned by another one of our racers, Dennis Pope, is the title sponsor of the Sunday race. Let's go out with a bang & give Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway the best show of the year for CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association. As always, the more entries, the more the payout!!! Also, don't forgot our cookout on Saturday after Dash for Cash. There will be tons of good food, fun, & fellowship! If you have any questions &/or concerns, please get in touch with Tabitha Moore Draughon or Leigh Anne Flynt. See everyone in a few days!!! |

Re: November 20th & 21st Coastal Plains Race #9 & #10
Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway Race #9 & #10 Results:
Saturday: We had 37 entries make 1st round call with one breakage in the first time run. Keith Alexander in his beautiful black 69 Camaro was our Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash winner running dead 1 on his 6.43 dial. Randy Chew got the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package when he let his good friend, Korey Alexander slip in on his .006 breakout. Mr. Auston Pusey making his first appearance of the 2021 season didn't leave empty handed as he won himself 5 gallons of PRO 112+ racing fuel courtesy of Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants/Ford's Fuel and Propane for his 2nd Round Best Losing Package. Auston had a .065 RT, was dialed in at 5.59 & ran a 5.592 @ 127.08 mph. Andrew Hilling was our lone semi-finalist. Mr. John Meinelt (Patricia Gross Meinelt) from DeLand, FL (yes 11 hours from home) was our Doyle Evans Realty/Curt's Camaro Barn Day #1 winner. Unfortunately he had a competition break bye run in the finals when Brent Pozzi's 16 V battery decided it didn't want anymore at the head of the staging lanes right before the finals. We all hated it for Brent as we wanted to see the finals between him & Mr. John. Tim Sloan won the Auto Plus Service Center Paul Bunyan "Best Reaction Time" for his .0052 RT in R1. Brent Pozzi was awarded the McLawhorn Racing sponsored Hard Luck Award for his parts finals during the finals. We had an awesome get-together earlier in the day with lots of food, fun, & fellowship. This has become a yearly tradition at Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway & we appreciate everyone for bringing the goodies! If you left there hungry/hangry, it was your own fault!!! 😛 Sunday: 35 cars made the 1st round call. Curtis Smith in his infamous "Hot Stuff" Camaro won the Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash. He was dialed a 7.13 & ran a 7.1318 @ 94.15 mph. We had a dead 1, 2, 3, & 5 during the Dash for Cash run. Dennis Pope received the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package. Dennis was dialed a 7.02, had a .0449 RT, & ran a 7.014 @ 94.35 mph. John Lattimore got himself 5 gallons of PRO 112+ racing fuel from Ford's Fuel and Propane/Renegade Race Fuels for his 2nd Round Best Losing Package. Steve Johnson was the sole semi-finalist. He had a .0000 RT in the semi's but his car went hard right at the hit & he had to abort the run. Lee Truell (Jamie Troutman Truell) was our Pope Automotive/Curt's Camaro Barn Day #2 winner. Lee used a .0069 RT to run dead on his 5.91 dial in the finals against Jim Marshall. Jim was .0479 on the tree, dialed 7.39 & ran a 7.3810. Steve Johnson also received the Auto Plus Service Center Paul Bunyan "Best Reaction Time" for his perfect reaction time in Round 5/Semi's. Raymond Roland was awarded the McLawhorn Racing Hard Luck Award today although his misfortune came during Saturday's race action. We would like to say THANK YOU to Mr. Ronnie, Wes Ellis, & all the staff at Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway for the great track conditions, handling such a large field of cars, & their southern hospitality & welcoming CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association to their track this past weekend. We look forward to racing there again in 2022!!! A SPECIAL THANK YOU to all of our sponsors & racers for a successful 2021 race season! We couldn't have done it without all of y'all! We had perfect weather for all 5 weekends of racing this year. |
