Re: onan help
Cheap plastic. The pieces are down in there. Be very careful if you dig around in there trying to find any loose parts. The ignition triggering device is attached to the crank/generator rotor connection point. It's plastic with 2 arms that have magnets on them. They swing by a pickup. Just like a crank trigger. They can break very easy and last time I tried to get one they were unavailable. That was last summer. Mice routinely nest in there and that plastic piece gets broken when it hits the nest they make. I've fixed lots of those failures in the past. Use a flashlight and look around for any loose parts still in there.

Re: onan help
Very easy...but you need a good meter with frequency counting or HZ to see rpm....If you don't have that all you can see is AC voltage......
We use Fluke meters.... HZ or frequency is the same as engine rpm.....so 60 HZ is 1800rpm on your unit. With no amp load your unit should show about 62.5HZ or 1860 rpm...and a good one will hold down to about 58 HZ with full load on it....30+ amps. Voltage is not adjustable.....should be around 120......Voltage regulator maintains that. They are a little tough to get adjusted so they work best. Carb and governor adjustments are very sensitive.....and can easily cause unstable running... I will very likely be at the Atco open race and can check it for you there.... I know where you park and am usually in the same area.... I've also run some of the MASCA races there the last few years...

Re: onan help
Thanks Rich, I got the starter in, seems to be running fine. The broken plastic teeth was the same problem I had with the micro quiet 4000 except I had to drop that unit.this one I did from underneath the coach much easyer. I could not find the teeth that broke off but I certainly heard them when it finally started! Oh well doesn't seem to of hurt anything. Get up with me when you first see me At a race, would love to have it checked to be sure the output is correct, thanks again, Keith

Re: onan help
Good to hear Keith. I'll catch up with you at the Atco Open. Nice payout increase plus a top 8 race makes it a race well worth attending.
