It says they spoke with dan and he verified it. From that I have to believe it was being sold again. My hope is that Dan sold it to a car collector for big dollors. And the Car collector now sold it to a racer for a steal of a price.

Heck, I remember John Galina's 7 second GN sold for about $27K. Auctions are not the best place for race cars. But then again, $20K for this '63 does seem cheap.
The aluminum front end is not as valuable as you think. If it has the hood, probably $10-$12K at best. Realistically around $8,000.

A few years ago Dan was asking $69,000.00 for the car, don't know what it sold for then.

Maybe it was a buy back? At that cheap a price it wouldn't cost much to protect your car. It doesn't seem possible that anyone, no matter how desperate, would let it go for that price. After the cost of consignment($1000) and the sellers fees of 8% ( I think), it wouldn't be worth it.

This was very hard to watch. Dan and I go way back. We haven't always agreed politically but I love Dan like a brother. Hard times sometimes force you to do things you do not want to do. It pains me to see this happen. I have some very fond memories of this car and Dan. Dan, if you read this..... love you man, mean it! Jim

Carmin Russo from Buffalo , N.Y. bought the car a few years back . Carmin died and the car , along with other nice cars in his collection were bought or consigned by a local on line car dealer . A friend of mine told me a few weeks ago that this car was going to auction and may be a steal ...wish I had listened a little better.

The car was sold on a Bill of Sale without a title. This scares off a lot of bidders. I don't know if the car lacks a VIN plate or the title was just lost. Titles can be obtained if there is a VIN on the car. Car would have brought much more with title.

Dan sold the car to a private collector. I dont know if it went directly to the C Russo collection or if he purchased it second had from Dan. I looked at the car over a year ago and we couldnt come to an agreement of price. Then i was the highest bidder on ebay less than a year ago, but it did not hit the reserve. I was on the phone to bid, but because of other investments $20k was all i could go to.

The car was race ready as far as motor, trans and diff being gone over as i believe it was destined for the US Nats a few years ago prior to Russo getting sick (and passing). While the paint was cracked badly in the rear, the car overall was in great shape, it just needed a little interior attention and some spots on the front end rubbed out (smoothened) There were no real dents but definately some low spots in the aluminum (except one headlight ring, which should be repairable as its not kinked).

I own a 66 Belvedere Hemi (11,712 miles) from his collection and was looking forward to adding this beauty to my collection! It would have gone great beside the 65 Belvedere (clone of a 64 max wedge driver!)

Someone got a great deal, i wish i could have added 10k to my bidding for sure!

Ian
