Low turnout @ ATL?
Hey guys,
I noticed that the registered entries in Stock and Super Stock this weekend in ATL are at 65 and 57% respectively, and it seems that a lot of the guys that are registered are running multiple classes. What gves? crappy track? crappy economy? crappy weather? I have heard that the track is a dump, but is that the biggest reason? |

Re: Low turnout @ ATL?
There are a lot of reasons Atlanta has become unpopular. It's hot, muggy, and slow. The track can be questionable, especially down track as the sun sets. There have been a lot of racers who have had their trailer or motorhome robbed. You need to be there by noon Thursday to get parked and tech in, since Friday they'll bring the pro motorhomes in before letting the sportsman racers who stacked Thursday night in, so those sportsman racers either park quickly and hopefully manage to rush through tech, or they miss 1st round of qualifying.
All of that, combined with a crappy economy, high fuel prices, and unusually hot weather early in the year, is probably hurting the car count considerably. We absolutely would not have entered with just one car.

Re: Low turnout @ ATL?
Let's not forget that Division One has a National Open at Atco that has always been popular with racers ..........

The IHRA race in Baton Rouge La. is this weekend, so no country dogs or puppys, brain surgeons, Teuton's Southland group, or deer with saucepicante.
