Spindle question.
I have light brakes on a heavy spindle (76 nova) is there a drum spindle I can use with these brakes that will shed some weight?

Re: Spindle question.
NHRA only allowed aftermarket brakes for safety purposes! Your Nova only came with factory front disc brakes and you are only allowed to use the stock spindles to be legal!

Re: Spindle question.
The NHRA allowed part is a bit deceiving. This is what the 2017 book says for Stock:
BRAKES Must be equipped with stock production four-wheel hydraulic brake system, or aftermarket disc brakes meeting the following criteria: 1. Minimum effective piston area per wheel: 3 1/2 square inches. 2. Minimum disc (rotor) diameter 10 1/4 inches x 5/16-inch thick. 3. Must install dual master cylinder with any modified brake system, splitting front and rear into separate systems. 4. Dual calipers on rear wheels permitted, maximum one hydraulic brake line to dual rear brake system (no wires). 5. Rear wheel line-loc prohibited; front wheel line-loc permitted. Parking brake optional. 6. Carbon-fiber brake rotors prohibited. See General Regulations 3:1. As far as spindles go. Stock.

Re: Spindle question.
Couldn't you buy a brake package that included the spindles ? Those spindles might not have that extra metal on them . I know of some aftermarket brakes need the spindles sent in for them to be modified .

Re: Spindle question.
SUSPENSION, Front
"Must retain complete stock front suspension system as produced by manufacturer for body used, aftermarket tie rods with Heim joints permitted. Lower control arm may be machined for larger shock diameter and mount. Lift kits/travel limiters prohibited. Sway bar optional." This seems to rule out replacing the spindles.

Re: Spindle question.
Sounds like I'm putting my spindles back on Olds wagon and not using G body spindles
