Question Gas or Diesel

I know this is a silly question on this forum but here goes:
Looking to get an F250 or GM 2500 series truck for my daughter. Gas or diesel? No heaving hauling..no 6.0 or 6.4 Ford diesels. Budget around $22K. Crew/extended cab preferred. I am leaning toward gas. Thanks

I have always had ford diesels, ( I race Fords also) I needed a new truck in 2007. Ford diesels were having a lot of engine problems and the Dodge trucks didn't offer an 8 foot box on their full crew cab duallys, and the seats were not comfortable. I bought a 3500, Chevy crew cab dually with 6.6 diesel and Allison trans.. Best truck I have ever had, and is still the best diesel truck out their ( in my opinion) gets 12 mpg hauling 36' goose neck trailer loaded, and 18-19 mpg empty

I also took a lot of crap from my Ford friends, but I needed a dependable truck to get my Fords to the race track!!!! Rides good empty and loaded.

Given the price of used diesels, (last time I checked my low mileage 2007 Cummins retailed for more than I paid for it new) and the fact that there will be no heavy loads, I would be leaning towards gas as well.

Why even go 3/4 ton? If it isn't needed, much nicer trucks can be had for the money you want to spend. And unless you need the oil burner, it is just extra cost. The Duramax trucks I see around here from 2012 are just shy of $30k.....and are already showing signs of rust.

Thanks. Now, can you folks explain this to my 18yr old daughter! LOL! I have a 2011 Duramax and love it. I imagine a 2500 series with the Duramax/Allison must motor along pretty good.
