C14+ Versus MS109
Hi Guys, Down under in Australia the government has banned Leaded race fuel from June this year. So we have to switch to unleaded race fuel.
Can anyone tell me how much I would have to modify my carby if at all to run MS109. We were running C14+. Engine is BBC 572 , 14.2 to 1 comp, 1150 Dominator 2 circuit, around 893 hp. The only information I can find is go up a few jet sizes and maybe make the idle circuit a little richer. Same ignition timing ?. Is the MS109 a slower burning fuel ?. Thanks in advance for your help, Patrick. |

Re: C14+ Versus MS109
Probably need to know more about the MS109. Motor and research octane??? If it is a slower burning fuel, then the timing should be advanced to allow for the optimum explosion at TDC. Just sneak up on it. Watch the plugs for signs of detonation.

Try reaching out to Greg Ventura (he works at K&N Filters). He has had a great deal of success on the track running large BBC's on pump gas. We're all jealous of him on race day though when he's filling up for $25. lol.

I've heard Aussie run of the mill premium is 98 octane? Is that true? If so, set up to run that.
