Default Re: Edelbrock aluminm Mopar heads legal ??

I still believe that the earlier L.A style heads need help as someone on here stated they are now 40 yrs old and hard to get. This however opens the can of worms as all the other 40 yr old corporate engines well ask for help as well.

John,

First, how are you doing?

If the heads are modeled after the 452 design then they are open chambered heads if I remember correctly while the 915 and earlier heads were closed chambered.........which one is edelbrock making?

I'm sooo confused'

I think if you are looking at the blueprinting papper for youre Mopar 383 and 440 combo, if the Mopar 287 heads are legal for at least SS then the Mopar 452 and i think Edelbrock are going to replace that. Bruce and NHRA forgott this on the firts round with the 452 Mopar head when the make it leagal, but that was the goal.
So if some one have a 64 383 cu and the 287 is their today as leagal in SS, the new heads are going to be ok, but you need to have the right valve size and chamber cc ,,,,,,
The Max wedge i think should be ok allso for SS ( dont know this), so we have to push NHRA for this.
Looking forward to see allot off Mopar 383 and 440 SS combos this year.

The list is now updated with the Edelbrock and Mopar heads for the Big Blocks. I am waiting on Edelbrock to tell me when they will start production.

I am putting in an order for my customers and for my inventory, If anyone would like to be added to the list you can email me or call me at the shop.

Finally no more junk castings..............

Talking Re: Edelbrock aluminm Mopar heads legal ??

I doubt the Edelbrocks will make any more power than my old Don Little heads and I need the weight of the iron heads to keep it off the back bumper anyways.

I agree with you, what ever Edlebrock produces as a replacement add HP to it and let the system work. So we as the racers can buy new available, and afordable castings to race with. Plus we can support the people putting money into our sport.
The Ram Air 2 cylinder head castings for the car I run, is Impossible to find. The set on the car cost 2500.00 just for the castings. I'd take 20 HP just to be able to buy them.
NHRA need to be flexible and work with us in allowing some new parts so we can keep racing our cars. Something everybody should fight for that has to purchase rare and expensive castings. Just my 02 cents
What casting numbers are you using as the Ram Air 2? (assuming Pontiac castings) I have a bunch of early Pontiac heads that aren't doing anything. Maybe I have some rare castings that are worth a buck or two.
