Re: Crane HIT 292-2-NC Cam spec
I used Crane "Hit" cams in the 80's a number of times. Usually the Hit 280.....I don't recall the specs but they are hydraulic and really are primarily a street cam and pretty mild. We built some 383's for street cars and used the Hit 280 and they made well over 350 hp with stock iron heads. The 292 is the next larger cam. Lift was moderate on those....maybe .480 is my guess. The 292 would be a bit more lopey depending on engine size and compression. The 383's we built were under 10-1. Those cams liked a little looser converter and a little bit of gear in the rear. An 11' converter and a 3.55 or lower gear was good in a street car that had one of those 383's.....and a 3 speed trans for the street.....not a p/g.....
