I'm saying is find you a good builder, (Two were mentioned in this conversation) and spend the dollars. They will set you up with the right combo for YOUR car and also will give you good advice on jetting/tuning that you need while at the track.

Keep in mind that at least on our small blocks you have two different series of Thermoquads you can legally run, and for instance the 72 and up Thermoquads as mentioned can be ran with metering rods or with the Holley jet conversion so ya I know there has been a lot of testing done. These are really pretty cool carburetors to work with and just reiterating what was mentioned before you just have to start trying things out cause the tuning (car included) and elevation will make a difference on how they behave.

Speaking for myself only, I have heard there is some truth to that but have never tried it personally. We have no interest in it if it isn't legal with our combos. I do have a stroker motor I've thought about trying it on just to see but never have got around to it.

300 plus a carb? thats pretty cheap, I think to have one built you can expect more like 800-1200 to have a good carb built.

Talk to Brad Van lant. Big carb is used on the 360 combo. 50 more cfm than the smaller version. Supply a good rebuildable core or see what he has and he will do the rest. As mentioned earlier buy one play around with it then try another. Price is a bit more than $300. More like $500. Good luck.

X2 on Brad
I have some small block combos that can run either big or small carb.
I never see much difference between the performance
on our small block stockers.
