Re: Fly Weights
Well, with a factor of 25.10! there's the 1960 falcon with a 144 6cyl at 2259#!
Can't see a 72 mustang getting this light, but a 250 6cyl is 2973# at 20.50. Of course it's rated at 145hp...and the 302 is 143 so why bother. 78 Fairmont 2.3, 22.69 at 2587#. For 4 cyl's how about a 92 festiva at 1720#? Pretty much all the fox platforms are around 2800-3100 with an 8 and so are the maveric/comets. The old falcons were around 2800 with v8's too. |

Re: Fly Weights
To end the controversy the D4B is for the smaller bolt 273/4bbl motor. The LD4B is for the '66 273/4bbl that uses the modern LA motor heads. Both aluminum intakes have a CHRY part #. Must have the CHRY part # to be NHRA legal. The acceptance of the intakes was introduced by Chrysler/Mopar. What I don't understand from the info from NHRA is why they don't allow the LD4B on the '65 273/4bbl when you can use the swirl port 302 heads which are moderm LA design.

Re: Fly Weights
That was the first one I thought of. Very light for a car in V/SA. How about `78 GM H Body (Monza,Skyhawk etc.) 105/130 231 Buick V-6 2770# with driver in U/SA.

Re: Fly Weights
That 63 olds jetfire is a small v8 alum block , turbo or replacement q jet 11.1 cr. Was that car IRS or straight rear ?You can lose the powerglide for a 3spd now . Really hard to find parts for that combo .

Not a Q jet , a 4GC Pontiac was the only 61-63 (big) compact with IRS..Buck, Olds were straight rear, four arm susp. Pontiac used a variation of the Powerglide...Oldes were three speed Roto Hydramatics (Slim Jims) No modern 3 speed will bolt to that block...Don't know about the later Rover version bolt pattern Carry on...

68 Ford Falcon Coupe, 115hp 200, 2700# to make V with driver.
The pocket rocket: 71 Pinto, 2.0, hits U at a svelte 2170#. Last edited by Joe Toller; 11-30-2013 at 07:27 PM. Reason: need to learn to read :( |
