Class Racer.com teams with IHRA for Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Spectacular

Norwalk, Ohio, June 7, 2011 – With the biggest IHRA sportsman drag race ever held less than a month away, the International Hot Rod Association and Class Racer.com are pleased to announce a unique and exciting partnership for the upcoming Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Spectacular July 8-10 at Maryland International Raceway.

In addition to acting as a partner in promoting the IHRA’s 40th anniversary celebration to be held at the famed Maryland facility, Class Racer.com will also sponsor the Super Stock and Stock racing classes at the richest sportsman race ever held by the IHRA.

“I’m excited about teaming up with IHRA’s Summit Racing Sportsman Spectacular events,” said Ken Miele, owner of Class Racer.com. “The class racer is always looking for events that cater to them and IHRA has done that with the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Spectacular events.”

Open to all racers, and featuring all seven IHRA touring classes, the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Spectacular events pay $5,000 to win in each class. All IHRA and valid NHRA memberships, licenses and chassis certifications will be accepted. In addition to the big payout, each event will award national event contingency and an IHRA Ironman. IHRA members who win their classes will also earn automatic entry into the Summit Racing Tournament of Champions in October.

“We are pleased to have Class Racer on board as a partner for the upcoming Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Spectacular. Class Racer is the go-to site for all things class racing, especially Stock and Super Stock, and to have them teaming with us to get the message out for this event will be a huge plus,” said Skooter Peaco, IHRA VP of Race Operations. “We are excited to be presenting the biggest sportsman drag race in IHRA history and to have a promotional partner like Class Racer will be invaluable.”

In addition to competition in IHRA’s regular Pro-Am classes, including the Class Racer.com Super Stock and Stock classes, the two events will also feature record payouts in Top and Mod and will include a large contingent of Junior Dragsters. Competition in Top, Mod, and Junior Dragster will be open to all competitors regardless of racing affiliation.

The first of two Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Spectacular events will take place July 8-10 at legendary Maryland International Raceway. The second event will take place October 14-16 at Virginia Motorsports Park.

Class Racer was started to give fans across the country a place to share their thoughts and experiences over 10 years ago. At the time there were not many places where racers or fans could go to talk about class racing.

Since then Class Racer has grown into the largest community for talk, live reports, photos and videos specific to class racing and the tech section has become a great tool for new and old racers. Class Racer is a forum dedicated to Class Racing and its community.

Default Re: Class Racer.com teams with IHRA for Summit Racing Equipm

Below is an email sent to me from Royce Miller. Below the email is all the info on pairing and ladders.

I have order a pallet of C11 that will be here for the event. If you could get the word out through the forums that would be great. Also if anyone has questions on ladders, every class (except ET) will be on a ladder from first round on except re-entry which will be random pairings. The second round ladder will be constructed from all first round winners and re-entry winners based on their original qualifying positions or higher. In other words if the number 3 qualifier would lose everyone under him would move up a position in qualifying for the second round ladder and so on down the line. Let me know if you have any other questions

Thanks, Royce

CLASSES:
> TOP SPORTSMAN: (ALL RUN; 7.60 MAX DIAL)
> TOP DRAGSTER: (ALL RUN; 7.40 MAX DIAL)

ROUND 2 LADDER:
The round 2 ladder will consist of 1st round winners and re-entry winners. All competitors advancing to the second round will be put back on the round 2 ladder in as close to their original qualifying spot as possible. For example, a competitor who qualifies #1 and wins their first round will be placed back on the #1 spot of the ladder for second round. A competitor may move up in their ladder position for second round if higher qualified cars are defeated in the first round or in the re-entry round.

ET Classes & Juniors

Qualifying: All Run
Ladders: None
Bye Runs: Bye runs are determined by drawing cards - the bye run may not be declined. The first eight cars in each lane are eligible for the bye. Cards are shuffled and cut. The top card will determine which car has the bye. Left lane is represented by black cards, right lane is by red cards and the number on the card determines which car back in line receives the bye. That car will pull out of line and will receive the bye if there is an odd number of cars. Drivers can get only one bye per event unless all cars remaining have had a bye. Broke bye runs are awarded in the event that your opponent is unable to race. This occurs only after you have been paired. If it occurs prior to pairing, which is in the lanes, no solo will be awarded. Broke byes are still eligible for regular bye runs.
Any bye run car that elects to just take the tree and back off the starting line must still go to the end of the line in the staging lane they choose.
Staging Lanes & Pairings: Never block the entrance of staging with your race car, trailer or pit vehicle. Please stay with your car at all times while in the staging lanes. The staging lanes & pairing policy applies to all E.T. classes (Top E.T., Mod E.T., & Junior Dragster). Once you have selected a lane to run in and have come to a complete stop in that lane, you cannot switch lanes or move in front of or behind a racer for any reason. A bye run will be pulled every round even if there is an even number of cars, this is to prevent cat and mouse games in the lanes. Once the bye run is pulled cars will be paired side by side.
If we run out of cars in one lane, then they will be run front to back with the front car having lane choice. This pairing procedure will be used all the way up to, but not including the final. In the final, drivers will draw high card for lane choice (ace is low). You are considered a pair once your front tires enter or pass the pedestrian crosswalk in the staging lanes. Inability to run once paired constitutes a broke bye. As you pull around to the pad make sure that you remain paired. It is impossible for the tower to determine who is paired until you enter the water. In the event that you reach the waterbox and are no longer paired correctly, do not start your burnout. Grab the attention of the waterbox personnel and tell them you are not paired correctly so that the issue can be resolved. If you stage, it is a race - there will be no re-runs for wrong pairings, even if both drivers agree!
