Goldman & Boicesco Ca$h in on Father's Day at Numidia!
The Mid Atlantic Super Gas Association visited Numidia Dragway on Father’s Day Weekend for Races #3 & 4. Twenty-Six Cars made the trip to take a shot at the guaranteed $1,000 winner’s purse put up by track owner Bob DiMino. Pete Luciano laid down a 9.901 to claim the top qualifying spot on Saturday. In the end it would be Cecil County winner Tom Goldman and his 1958 Corvette who would find himself in the final once again, this time against first time finalist Rob Keister and his 1964 Chevy Nova Station-wagon.
Goldman started his trek to the finals with wins over a Red-Lighting Luciano, a Bye-Run in the 2nd Round, another red-light this time by Len Riotto’s 1962 Nova and In the Semi-Finals Goldman’s 9.904 took out Ed Alessi Jr’s 1963 Select Transmissions Pontiac’s 9.897. Second Generation Driver Keister had his Car on a string all day with wins over Mike Lauria, George Smith, received a Bye Run in the Third Round and in the Semi-Finals Lance Kreiger’s 2004 Corvette 9.873 was no match for Keister’s 9.903. As Goldman and Keister lined up for the finals Goldman would receive one more gift as Keister left too soon in the finals and lit the red-light, both drivers laid down identical 9.918 in the win for Goldman. On Sunday, George Donhauser took the #1 Qualifying spot with his 1979 Arrow. Once eliminations got underway it would be a familiar face in the winner’s circle as “Mr. Numidia” Iggie Boicesco would stake claim to a win again at Numidia. This time the victim would be Maple Grove Divisional Winner Shawn Harp and his 1957 Bel-Air. Boicesco would start his trip to his 5th Numidia victory with wins over Paul Schonberger, Red-Lighting Donhauser, Darlene Staub and his 9.911 would take down Pete “Lucky” Luciano’s 9.889 in the Semi’s. Shawn Harp and his 1957 Chevy Bel-Air would make his 1st trip to a MASGA final with victories over Larry Edwards, Earl Nichols Jr, and in the 3rd round with a trip to the finals on the line his 9.901 would take down Derek Clark’s 9.913 to received a bye-run into the final round. In the finals Harp would go -.005 Red and hand the win to Boicesco who ran it out to a 9.907 to Harp’s shut off 12 second run. Next race for MASGA will be on July 9th & 10th at Maple Grove Raceway for the 2nd annual Sportsman Circuit Shootout. Tom Goldman’s 250 points will lead all competitors into this race over 2nd place Luciano & Nichols who are tied with 197 points. This race will feature Super Comp, Gas on Saturday and Super Comp, Gas and a Stock & Super Stock Combo Race on Sunday.
