Re: Quickest "Real" Pontiac
Those are impressive times indeed. I know the names, but not familiar with the cars. This thread is about the fastest pontiac powered pontiacs, not corporate gm powered. If either of those cars are pure pontiac powered, then WOW. Does someone have the specs on what either of the above mentioned cars have for an engine???

Also, if the cars Stacy and Don have run 428 pontiac power then we have some very fast Pontiac powered race cars out there. Now I have a question for all of you - - - How long before we see an 8 second Pontiac Super Stocker or a 9 second Pontiac Stocker??????? To qualify they must both be Pontiac powered and Pontiac bodied.

Re: Quickest "Real" Pontiac
Especially if they were Drag-Pak motors they would be rated around 250 HP.

Re: Quickest "Real" Pontiac
Now : that we have switched to SS Pontiacs : Lets add few more very fast cars, in their respective classes. Lynn Mccarty's GTCA firebird has run in the 9:40's ( 455 SD Q/jet, 3100 lbs)
Also Phil Montieth's GTCA firebird ( Pete Biondo driver ) has run 9:40's also ( 428 Pontiac Q/jet ) about 3200 lbs. Greg Myers GTGA firebired has run high 9's ( low compression 400 Q/jet ) about 3350 lbs Sorry if I left some one out there are a few more out there that run very well in SS part of the problem is many times people just assume there is a " corporate motor "in them but there are some hard core Pontiac racers that have been making these motors run fast for a long time . Also, we are doing a 406 Ram Air V soon, so we hope to skip the 8's entirely ;-)

Re: Quickest "Real" Pontiac
If we are including SS/GT cars, Bob Cruzen's car doesn't run too bad. He has been 9.0s.

Re: Quickest "Real" Pontiac
I am really impressed by all the responses to this thread. It was started by my good friend Danny Durham (Geerhead55) and has been a ton of fun. The original thread started as the fastest stocker pontiac and has gone into super stock also. I hope Danny doesn't mind the diversion, but we have had some great responses and seen some very quick times for pure pontiac race cars. It is so good to see that there are several people running pontiac power these days. Loving this thread. How about you, Danny???
Lynn - I totally understand about not hitting the index to hard. What is the problem with the weight of the Grand Am?? Ed - Why not include GT cars, they are a part of super stock. Just don't want to go any other direction. Thread started as fastest stocker.
