Holley carb problem
Just rebuilt my holley 750 vacuum carb. The car will only fire with the throttle held part way open. Then will idle for a few seconds and shuts off. Also If i start it and hold it at 1500 rpm, then give it gas it shuts off.
Thought vacuum leak but cant find one. Any help would be appreciated. Running out of ideas. Thanks |

Re: Holley carb problem
John, almost sounds like you installed the wrong base plate to body gasket. There are several different ones and are all close. If you used the wrong gasket, it will cover and block the wrong passages and wont allow the carb to idle. Also (as im sure you know) dont run the mixture screws in real hard in the metering block it will dimple the screw and cause funky idle issues. My bet tho is the wrong body to base gasket.

Re: Holley carb problem
That is exactly what I experienced a while back....make sure the gasket matches the base and center section with the 4 oval slots.
If they are covered, the car will start and die immediately, over and over and over....like it is running out of gas instantaneously. |
