Speaking of Mr Ross, any one know how he is making out ?? Hopefully on the mend..

And is there anything we can learn by that accident, any things to do to our rides to make them safe as possible ?

On NHRA.com the full face helmet rule is not listed. I know it says its not the complete list of changes but anyone know if this is for sure? Doesn't affect me because i wear one all the time but i know a lot of you OLD guys..LOL...don't like the full face ones.

Slick vic,
everything listed in the DIV 5 website is in the 2008 rulebook. I still think alot of the rule are too vague and need some clarification. the question is who is the right person to clarify. One division might say one thing and another the total opposite. I would hate to drive 1000 miles not to be legal.

being one of the "old guys" i would hate a full face helmet, btw, why a sheild? what the heck is that big peice of lexan in front of me for? i can only see this as some sort of wrong interpatation as it is under general regs, i hope it was ment as for open body cars only, hence the reference to goggles and sheilds, (i hope). and vic, you are not getting any younger

Hi all,
I just got the rule book and it says on page 132 section 7 - Super Gas, Driver: 10 Helmet: "For all closed-bodied cars, a full-face Snell M2000,M2005 K98,K2005, SA2005, SFI 31.2A or 41.2A helmet mandatory: shield permitted (googles prohibited)

It says open body cars the shield is mandatory.

Regards to all

I don't see the driveshaft sensor rule...only in super street...because it's entry level like Gary's

Default 2008 rules changes

My spanking new 2008 rule book say the rules for S/G are the same as S/ST with the following exceptions. Then it says the S/C rules are the same as S/G except for the following exceptions.
No where do I see an exception pertaining to this!

very entertaining wandering around PRI yesterday inquiring of the safety-related manufacturers when they were planning to have -15 shoes and gloves available for everybody running 7.49 or quicker with methanol and/or NOS... no one apparently makes a -15 shoe, nor -15 gloves... imagine you're at Atco for their Saturday night bracket program -- and you'll have 50 guys standing around in the lanes with their -15 firesuits, -20 (Funny Car) booties and -20 gloves... yah, right...

Simpson, Bell, Impact, Taylor all confirmed that there was zero consultation with them before the new rules came out...

expect a number of clarifications before the season starts... you wonder when the track owners will start bitching up a storm when they figure out that half of their fields are either non-compliant, or staying home...
unless they come up with a different set of rules or cheaper alternatives, looks like it'll cost you close to $2000 to run TD or fast brackets on alcohol or spray... before you buy that tube to exhaust your generator onto the roof of the motorhome parked next door...

srm
