Quite a difference between 1/2 & 5/8,
Proof load for grade 2-5-8 for 1/2 stud = 8800-13600-19200
For 5/8 stud = 14100-21800-30700, a good 30% + - stronger across the board
I always heard not to use the grade 8 because it's to hard & brittle, use grade 5. Not sure what they use from Strange or Moser.

He's going to need 10 new holes indexed, drilled and tapped. The current knurled stud hole is bigger than a 5/8 threaded stud.Hope it don't have 1" lightening holes between the existing holes then your SOL. gsa612

My axles were drilled for both 1/2 and 5/8 screw in studs. The axle flange still isn’t the weakest link.

Contact Mark Williams.
They solved my moser problems that moser just could not.
Many length 5/8 studs, washers, lugs and associated parts.

Grade 8 is stronger across the board, including tensile. My Moser axles are tapped for 5/8" x 18 thread bolts, so I just buy long enough bolts. If the wheel hole is much bigger than 5/8", you could get sleeves or find studs with larger unthreaded areas. People who think grade 5 is better, why does ARP make bolts and lug nuts?

Something like, the harder it gets the more brittle it becomes.
