Thanks for the correction Mark, the black vinyl top flawed my memory. Man he could drive that thing with amazing consistency.
I still can't believe we lost Dave and Alan within days of each other.
For a small state Connecticut has had some great drag racers and also NASCAR Modified drivers as well.

No problem, Frank
Actually, it was an earlier incarnation of the same car that had Endless Flight on the front fender. (Peters and Hozan)
There's a new pic on the CT Dragway F/B page, of Alan and Dave racing each other.
Sad times, for sure .
And for those who think they might race again, better get with it.
(Am I talking to myself again?)

Hi Everyone,
A friend pointed out this conversation, so I thought I would pop in and say Hello. I am Al's youngest, Colleen. I just wanted to say thank you all for saying such nice things about my dad. He was taken from us too soon. We are trying to summarize his accomplishments on the drag strip--I had to make a spreadsheet to try to keep track of all his wins! The trophies have moved around over the years, so we are trying to piece it all together...

It's so nice to know he had such an awesome network of fellow racers and friends. He will be missed.

We would be delighted to see anyone that would like to pay their respects on Saturday. I know that the reception on Saturday is not so traditional, but nor was Al Peters! We picked the place because it is on the water, in the town where he grew up... and it has a full bar! He wouldn't go the hospital without a drink, nor would he go anywhere else! We would all love to hear your stories and memories. If anyone has photos, please feel free to email them to me, we will have a slideshow of all the good times on and off the track.

Thanks everyone for all the good thoughts,
Colleen (and Rosemary, Maureen and Alan Jr)

Won Indy in 1975 with Al's J/S 1969 2 barrel 350 combination. Al and I traded the J and L/Stick national records back and forth a few times. Raced each other several times and he beat me in the finals at the 1978 Grandnationals in stock eliminator as I recall. Good times and memories.
Al and I had similar engineering backgrounds and many common likes and dislikes so it was always fun to bs at the races.

Al was a true gentleman and fun to race with and against.

Don We are having a Dave LeBrun Alan Peters Memorial Race at Lebanon Valley on Sunday June 23 in conjunction with the ASRA association. So far with all the commitments from supporter it's starting to look like one of the largest one day purses we have seen for a Stock/ Super Stock race. It is also the week before the Lebanon Valley Lucas Oil Points meet. If you pre pay at the Memorial Race for the Lucas Race you can leave your rig there. The ASRA has a race on Saturday June 22 and anyone can race it. The track is also donating a drum of VP fuel to the person with the highest points for the 2 days. You don't have to be a member to win the track money or the money posted for the Memorial Race. If you have any questions or would like to donate to the Memorial fund please contact me at (413) 579-7729 or at bgp1614@aol.com Thanks to all that have been in touch and are sending a contribution to the race.
