So Charlie sent me a message asking about my most recent pictures that I have posted from a storage place called photobucket.In doing some checking into this is what I found:

Denver, Colorado (July 6, 2017) One of the world’s leading photo storage and hosting sites has begun notifying its largest commercial scale users that it will now offer an unlimited third party hosting subscription plan.

John Corpus, CEO of Photobucket, said that historically the company “relied heavily on advertising revenue but that major industry-wide changes in the advertising space have greatly impacted Photobucket, including the rise of ad blockers and the Company’s explosion of 3rd party hosting that generates zero revenue.

2. What is 3rd Party Hosting?

Photobucket defines 3rd party hosting as the action of embedding an image
or photo onto another website. For example, using the <img> tag to
embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another
website such as a forum, auction listings, blog, etc.”

“This model is no longer sustainable,” Corpus added.

Corpus noted that seventy-five percent of Photobucket’s costs originate from non-paying users leveraging 3rd party hosting. The majority of the industry has either eliminated 3rd party hosting or imposed variable pricing based on consumption. To address the market, Photobucket has added unlimited hosting to its Plus 500 Subscription plan at a competitive fixed price

It seems Photobucket has changed they're user agreement and will no longer host free 3rd party picture sharing. Which means no one can post pics that are being stored with them anymore to a public website free of charge. They are requiring a "low" monthly fee of $39.99 to do so now.

So , my Dart is getting closer to being ready for its maiden voyage to the track. My shop just updated me with the latest dilemma- what to do for front brakes? They said that the front Kelsey-Hayes rotors are unusable due to being severely warped and irregular, and they can't find a Kelsey-Hayes replacement (and they know I would like to stick with as many original or original-style parts as possible). The part number is 59157. I could go with an aftermarket setup like Wilwood, etc. but that won't look very period-correct behind my Cragar rims. On the other hand, I might be trapping 150+ mph and will need to slow the beast down in time.

Would love to hear your advice or opinions!


Btw, this Photobucket thing really sucks. Think of all of the wasted time spent posting photos.

Are you going to be using an old single layer, open face helmet too? Racing in a t-shirt? That would be period correct...

Don't F@#$ with safety stuff. No one is going to fault you for upgrading to modern discs...

We trap at 161 plus MPH weighing 3200 lbs using top of the line Lamb components and a parachute if need be. If you could make it to Indy next month to look over the safety improvements made on these cars, would be a worthy trip. Mines the blue one that never wins a round...........Phish

Obviously not. Point made. Just didn't know if there would be enough of a difference in stopping power between factory-style discs and modern options to offset my preference for a more original appearance.

Wish I could, Phish- thanks for the invite.

In case I haven't mentioned it before, I am not interested in being competitive with e.t.s. I just want the thrill of drag racing an original LO23, albeit with a bit more horsepower than they had in '68 (since I was going to build an alternate engine for the car, anyway). My engine is being built more for moderate racing and durability, rather than to be setting records, and I am only going to run it down our local drag strip for exhibition/ test & tune style runs... but still figure it should run in the low 9s at the least...

Just got pictures from Don Shipley, Richard Shipley's son who was the first owner of my car and I plan on painting it back to the original paint scheme. These will help a BUNCH!

Another pic. I displayed it at Carlisle last weekend and got lots of leads, one was a guy who knew Richard and called me yesterday with his phone number, talked with Don today. I can't wait to get it painted and gold leafed!
