check out the rear wheel well opening. I thought you couldn't modify for tire clearance other than "factory available" in Super Stock.
class designation SS/E ?????

Liteweight good eyes because I totally missed that...it looks like he cut & trimmed the whole rear wheel well body line out on the Hemi Barracuda.

That SSE designation stands for Super Stock Eliminator, AHRA's heads-up Super Stock (i.e., Pro Stock) class which debuted in 1969 one year before NHRA followed suit in 1970, and would explain the quarter panel wheelwell opening alterations on Don's Barracuda.

Is it a stick car in the second pic?
The "A" seems to be missing in the class designation
Different car or conversion?

Same car but competing headsup in Super Stock Eliminator at that event, hence the "SS E" shoe polish on the windshield.

Second picture has SS/B on the windows and the quarter panel.
Not the SSE pic.

Now that I looked, the first pic has SS/B on the quarter and SS/BA on the window.
Must have converted a stick to automatic.
Answers my own question.
Moving on now.............
