Demolishing Englishtown
Anyone see these pictures on facebook? What a shame that this is what it came to.. This is crushing to the racing community in the northeast. Obviously the track closing was heartbreaking enough, but to see this makes it worse.

Re: Demolishing Englishtown
Made my first pass there in 1968 as a Junior from Highland Park HS... breaks my heart to see this. I'm betting after how they struggled in the early days to make E-Town great, Richie and Vinny are absolutely cursing down upon this sight!

Re: Demolishing Englishtown
Very sad. I took my first pass down E-Town in 1978. I also heard the motocross track was bulldozed as well.

From what I've been hearing, they are tearing everything down. Probably Making room for housing developments. Awful..I hope they enjoy the money they got for selling out. If you want to read up on how others feel about it, check out the comments on that Facebook page... pretty entertaining.

Re: Demolishing Englishtown
Saw my first race in 1964, I was all of 14 years old, nothing but way cool AFX cars. We campaigned a D/MP 1969 Camaro in the cups division in the mid 70's. I wish I had a nickel for every Sunday I was at Englishtown. Very fond memories

Re: Demolishing Englishtown
Well its their property and they can do what ever they want to with it.
However its still sad. I had heard that NHRA had sued them for breach of contract. Anyone know how that turned out? |

Re: Demolishing Englishtown
Whatever came about Don Schumacher having interest on buying the place?

Re: Demolishing Englishtown
I ran there in 1967 on a fairly regular basis. I will always have good memories of E-town.

Re: Demolishing Englishtown
Because of the land values in that area, there is not much chance that anyone could afford to buy the property and run it as a race track.
