1966 Coronet stocker
Would like to put this in stock with a hemi but have a few questions.
1. Since only two four doors were equipped with the hemi can I run stock with a hemi? 2. Can I run a trailer hitch in stock? 3. Can I use original paint as is? I am one sick puppy!!!!! |

Re: 1966 Coronet stocker
I don't think you can run the 4 door hemi in stock if only 2 were made. I have a 68 Mustang coupe that I'd like to have dressed for stock or super stock as a GT350 but only two of those were made. The rest were all fastbacks. One is MIA, believed crushed, and Mean Green is out there somewhere.
I have a hitch on my street/strip car but I drop it before tech. It bolts to the frame. The car and trailer are both in my avatar over to the left. Paint? Rules say Quote:
Afterthought: Coronets are my favorite MOPAR body. Dale

But that rule only applies to Fords and Mopars. The '67 Corvette L88 was in the class guide for years until someone decided to race it. Then it was removed.

Now Dwight, that's not nice of you to say. Since they don't have to actually BUILD 50 of the stuff they stick in the guide anymore, the 67 L-88 should get put back in the guide.

Re: 1966 Coronet stocker
I remember seeing an article in SS ? or Hot Rod Mag. on a restored '66 Hemi 4 door either an LAPD or a CHP car. Said it was an original "Police Package" car and had the red bubble revolving light on top and whip antennae and all! Got rid of all my od mags years ago but maybe somebody else will remember the article. They definitely made some! Jim

As for the "Paint Rules", where did you see THAT?! It certainly was not in my NHRA rule book.

The trailer hitch is OK if it was factory installed and not modified. You are not allowed to hang weights on it.

I consider the hitch as bolt in ballast.
