Rusty,
Do you think you will finally get to race your Fairlane in 2016? Been a long time coming. Any updates? Going to start on my Fairlane Wagon over the Winter.

Mike
I would like to race it at the NMCA race in Bradenton next year if possible. It's sitting in storage at this time. My problem is time and money.

At this time I have decided to put together a 428 from a lot of the left over parts I have and race the Fairlane in Nostalgia Super Stock at NMCA events. I can always build an NHRA legal SS engine at a later date.

You will have a blast with NMCA Rusty. You might even consider the Nostalgia Muscle car class.

I still need a few parts but I have a few new parts: JPT converter and C4 for an FE, strange center section with a 4:86 and 35 spline spool and Hooker race headers.

A friend of mine gave me the 9" rear and I think it came out of a Bronco. It is very hard to get the slicks to clear the 2" studs so to make it easier to install we are going to narrow the rear 1.25". That will center the 10.5" slick when I get a new set in the center of the wheel well.

The Wilwood brakes I have are for the late big Ford housing so we will install a set of Strange housing ends.

The battery cable runs along the frame rail. There is more clearance than the photo shows.

I've had issues at the shop that have kept this on hold. I had planned on at the start of the year to get serious and my painter/bodyman decides not to come back to work after Christmas so now I'm back to bodywork and paint. He was young and doing a good job. I have had a hard time finding someone up to our standards. Saturday I was going to meet with my engine builder and I had to cancel because I have a bad case of the flu. I did get the rear end out to narrow and found out the axle tubes are the same length so I'm not sure if we will modify this one or start with a new housing. Sorry for all the bad news now for some good Steve Baur the editor of Fastest Street Car Magazine is going to feature the engine build in his magazine. We will be building a stroker FE using one of my 428 blocks for the build.

After measuring the rear that was in the Fairlane I found out the pinnon was not in the center. I had a rear out of a 1963 Galaxie that we started to narrow years ago but for some reason never finished. I measured it and once Brian welds the Strange late Ford housing ends it will be perfect for the Fairlane.

I ordered a back brace and heavy duty spring perches from Jeg's and Brian started fitting and welding today.

Next week Brian will finish welding.
