Default Ultra Bell help

I'm installing a JW Ultra Bell on my powerglide (broke @ the Div 3 race @ Norwalk). The old bell housing is off and I'm ready to bolt the new bell on, but the instructions don't list a torque spec for the pump bolts. I called the guy who built the trans, but he thought it was 55 lbs. ft. and was told to be careful for it may strip out the threads. My 1966 Motors Manual shows 15-17 lbs. ft., which sounds loose. I removed the old bolts and they appear to have been torqued @ the 15-17 lbs. ft. Any suggestions?

15-17 LBFT no more. ....I also always use ARP studs for the bell. ......Tom

Cool Re: Ultra Bell help

Thanks for the helpful info. Didn't think about the studs. This is why I didn't call JW.
