Default 9 1/2" Ford ring gear

Has anyone upgraded from a 9" to the 9 1/2" ring gear, If so did it fit in the standard rear end housing without clearance issues. Found a nice complete MW low friction unit, just not sure if it will work without housing modification.

Thanks

Lincoln made a 9 1/2" ring gear it would fit a ford housing with a notch for clearance on the mounting flange for the third member. Hope that helps.

That helps a little, there's still a few other things to consider like the bearing caps hitting the back of the housing. [:-happy-:]

Not true it is 9 3/8 not the same, no nodular cases were ever made. the caps will break and the tail bearing retainer in the case will also crack. Every thing in the pig is just a little bigger the ring gear bolt circle is bigger. The 9 1/2 is different contack MW or Strange to see if if it will fit in your housing.
