The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, where the future stars of the sport earn their racing stripes, returns to action for an 18th year during the 2019 race season to compete at premier racing facilities across the country.

The 2019 season kicks off at Orlando Speed World Dragway, in Orlando, Fla. on Feb. 1-2. The schedule also includes a new location, as the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series heads to Tucson Raceway in Tucson, Ariz. on March 1-3, also returning to Atlanta Dragway on April 12-13. During the year, the series will feature exciting doubleheader events at Texas Motorplex, Mission Raceway, Heartland Motorsports Park and Sonoma Raceway. The action-packed series will also feature two stops at Woodburn Dragstrip in Woodburn, Ore. and The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where the 2019 season will finish on Oct. 31-Nov. 3.

The upcoming 2019 schedule includes 44 divisional events with a minimum of six in each of the seven divisions. Additionally, there will also be 25 regional events featuring the 260-mph Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car classes during the 2019 campaign.

“The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series offers some of the most intense competition in drag racing and we are excited to showcase this talented group of drivers at tracks across the country for another action-packed season,” said NHRA president Glen Cromwell. “The Lucas family has demonstrated incredible dedication to NHRA’s sportsman racers and we are thrilled to continue that partnership.”

“We are pleased to once again express our support of the competitors across the country in the series,” said Morgan Lucas, senior vice president of sales and marketing of Lucas Oil. “Sportsman competitors are one of the keys to the success of NHRA drag racing and we look forward to the coming season.”

On Sunday all racers are requested to stay and help spoof up the place for the Gators. BTW they are repaving and reportedly trying to freshen the place for the 50th.

Disappointed Reynolds is no longer hosting an event; great people, plenty of parking on grass and staging lanes are downhill....

Any clue as to why the Division 1 event at Virginia Motorsports Park was moved to October? It's been on the schedule in April since they came back to NHRA.

from what I've heard in the lanes...

many from points farther north don't want to travel to VMP at all no mind that time of year with the possibility of cold and wet weather. By moving it to the last race of the season, those not in contention can opt out.

Do they get anything for their time or just the pleasure of being slave Labor for the NHRA?

I heard that they are going to run class for stock & super stock at the baby Gators race instead of at the Gators. They are doing this because of this year is the 50th annual and there will be a lot of extra festivities going on.

Not sure they need 4 days but last year Orlando and Gainesville were big and I would expect more in 2019. Plus I heard something about running class for Gators at the Baby Gators.
