Default Factory built street driven cars running 9's in the 1/4....

This past weekend over 40 Dodge Demons gathered at Houston Raceway Park for a closed event.
Sunday was THE day as the air was great and many ran in the 9's.

It's great to see factory performance is alive at Dodge.

Glad to see these folks using these cars rather then letting them sit in a plastic bag somewhere scared to put any miles on them.

They said every car ran in the 9's and every car pulled the front wheels. Sounds like fun.

Another record they probably set ....

The most 9 second cars at the same track at one time without the required 9.99 and quicker E.T. safety equipment.

I suppose tech requirements are waived at "private" events...

I've never been tech'ed at a track rental. NHRA wasn't sanctioning the race, it was a private event. I can't see any reason for push back except NHRA smacking HRP's hand...

Interesting reading though in the forum link. Some of the posters are implying the LP Record Car was a ringer? Although it seems like they are gaining on beating that record. I wouldn't be surprised to see it fall before the end of the year at a track with good air.

The Demons are really cool, I just don't like the 4x4 fender flares on them. It shows how far we have come from the days of Chrysler building 55-100 Super Stock cars that ran 11.0 out of the box, and were anything but street legal with most being 12.5:1 and having 4.56's...

These are truly great times for gear heads.
The big 3 are making power and building quick and fast cars you can buy off the showroom floor with a warranty....if you can afford one.

The plus side is that these cars new today will be the used cars we buy in the future at a much reduced price ( late 70's and early 80's come to mind when 15 year old musclecars were much more affordable )

I dig the way Dodge has taken a 12 year old body style and kept it alive with all the different combos of powertrains and body styles.

The 2019 Challenger comes in a bunch of flavors ( and price ranges) from V-6 to the Redeye.
