Re: Barn Finds, cars left for dead.
Never heard of a RS/Z28 convertible. Or for that matter, any 1969 Z/28 convertible. Last edited by Charlie A; 09-28-2012 at 08:56 PM. |

Re: Barn Finds, cars left for dead.
A couple I know of. Down in Madison, Indiana, where Tod's daughter lives. There's a 68 Camaro that an old man owns (along with a bunch of other cars in his yard). Looks decent and salvagable, he won't talk to anyone about it.
Not a great car but my next door neighbor has a 77 Corvette that probably has less than 10k just setting in the driveway. Story we got, bought the car new, his wife didn't like the car. He only drove it a couple years and just parked it. It's in pretty sad shape paint wise. Don't know about it mechanically. Am sure it could be bought but he's pretty unrealistic on selling things. I probably missed out on a usable car. A good friend that I shared another hobby with inherited a house and property. We met he and his wife for dinner a few weeks back. He told me that there was a 66 4 door Nova in the garage. It didn't have an interior, motor or transmission. They traded the car for some tree removal.

Re: Barn Finds, cars left for dead.
The one and only early Z28 Camaro convertible was a '68 built for Pete Estes, Chevrolet General Manager. It was sold at an auction a few years ago.

Charlie, I've always meant to ask you about that, so what type of cars did you hear about that were destroyed by the hurricane & floods down there.

Re: Barn Finds, cars left for dead.
Only one I know of as a fact was a 427 66 Fairlane. Went under 12 ft. of saltwater.
There were reports of approx. 500,000 vehicles lost. We had acres and acres of storage lots for flooded cars. You could see classics and muscle cars, custom and antiques in the copart lots. Fresh water flood cars can sometimes be recovered. Saltwater flood.....slow rusty death. Sad. Last edited by Charlie A; 09-29-2012 at 06:21 PM. |
