Complete Throttle Stop Set-Up
I am considering doing some Super Street racing. I don't have a throttle stop at all right now. I have an 850 Quick Fuel race carb with annular boosters on a SBF that makes 620 HP. Car runs very low 10's at 131 MPH on pump gas. I have room for a plate stop under the carb. What is the best set-up for this? I need everything, even the controller. Thanks.

Re: Complete Throttle Stop Set-Up
I'd go with a #1 Stop under-carb style. Air or electric will work; personal preference. Any delay box with a timer function will operate it equally well, in my opinion.
If you use electric, be sure to use 10ga wire to power and ground the throttle stop solenoid, with the power coming through a relay that is operated by the delay box. I initially ignored this advice and ran 14ga wire direct from the delay box to the throttle stop. It seemed to work fine for awhile, but eventually it was opening very slowly. HUGE difference after upgrading the wiring. Good luck!

Re: Complete Throttle Stop Set-Up
If you decide on a #1 Stop , which is the best , use a merge spacer under it .
this really helps with straightening the flow below the stop and helps the MPH. As far as controllers go if your young and love pushing buttons and all kinds of features that you may or may not want ,Dedenbear or Biondo/Digital Delay are both good . If you are like me and like ease and simplicity ,The K&R Pro Cube is absolutely the best there is. Even an old guy like me can use it !

Re: Complete Throttle Stop Set-Up
Thanks for the information. I already have a Dedenbear Thunder delay box, but it doesn't have the throttle stop timer. I'll have to get just a timer for that. I've been bracket racing for a long time, just thought I'd try my luck at something different.

Re: Complete Throttle Stop Set-Up
The HVH spacers seem to be about the best out there - the 2 inch is the one I prefer most. Check them out, you won't be sorry.

Re: Complete Throttle Stop Set-Up
Two inch spacer with the two inch t stop? I will need a bigger scoop lol. As to the original post I also recommend the 1 stop. Air on off four blade, better resale if you decide to sell later

Re: Complete Throttle Stop Set-Up
Keith , before I put on the Stinnett /#1 Stop which has a merge built in to it , I ran a #1 Stop with a 1 1/4" merge spacer below it . took a 1/4 " off of a 1 1/2" spacer for clearance. I used the HVH also.

Re: Complete Throttle Stop Set-Up
The Stinnett Stop is only for a Dominator, right? Or do they make one for a 4150?

No 4150 flange units......You can gain some performance with any conventional stop by using a merge under it . Most Super Class engines like more plenum volume any way ,as long as you have the scoop clearance. When the top of the carb is too close to the scoop ,performance can fall off pretty dramatically.
