Default NMCA steals NHRA's thunder

Looks like the first 7 second run for factory Stock was not at an NHRA event. Geoff Turk in his Mopar ran 7.97 at the NMCA Bradenton race one week before the NHRA Gatornationals. The 7.97 run was unofficial because it was made while testing but Turk did make an official qualifying run of 7.99 later at the same event.

NHRA does consider NMCA an "Approved Alternative Sanction Organization"

Thumbs up Re: NMCA steals NHRA's thunder

The haters are going to hate ! The run took place at an NHRA race track, with nearly every NHRA "hitter" in house going after the Holley $10K. Great track prep. Perfect conditions. And he even did it twice just for good measure. Thanks to NMCA for giving these cars a center stage place to race, and a packed house of fans to perform in front of !! And once again, congratulations team Mopar / Blackbird for being the first in the 7's !.....

I agree also!! From a fan standpoint these cars are one of the best things to hit "class" racing in a long time. The excitement of the class rivals the Hemi Shootouts of several years ago and all three manufacturers are involved.
Thank you to the NMCA for promoting this class and giving us fans a FREE quality live feed to watch the show.

I know one of these hits was during practice, was he able to pull one off in qualifying or eliminations? Not hating at all just curious. Incredible pass none the less, congratulations to him.

Yes, a 7.99 in qualifying.

I'll be the 4th to agree!
Its getting quite old with so many no-name, non-racer/or self proclaimed "used to race" haters bashing NHRA on here anymore.
