X2 on kerosene, works great just tough on your hands. I keep the lid closed when not using it and the smell is not that bad.

Kerosene for me too
I keep two buckets, clean and dirty
Use oil change pan to wash parts
Primitive but effective
No EPA issues
Plus, you can get rid of the dirty K at a recycle center or use it in a waste oil heater

Most of the "parts washer fluid" that I have bought actually says somewhere on the bucked "mineral spirits". I am told that there is a low oder mineral spirits. Must be what I normally get because it doesn't smell terrible.
Some of the water soluble deals are a good idea, but don't work all that well unless heated.
We all use brake clean or others now and then for final cleaning of parts. Be careful with that stuff thought. Years ago I used some in the winter at my old shop. It was barely warm in there to start with and I didn't have any doors open. I ended up with a chemical burn in my sinuses that I suffered with for weeks. Sometimes I will just use some acetone on a rag and avoid getting it into the air more than I need to.
